Quite beautiful and ethereal. 3.5

Rated 2/10

Don’t get me wrong I quite like Kate Bush. I even own this LP on vinyl. But it’s rubbish.

She’s done the late 80’s thing of getting big name musicians in - Alan Stivel, Mick Karn, the Bulgarian Voices. And some of the performances are good. But it results in an incoherent mush with Kate wailing above.

The Sensual World - Kate Bush

wow! Never sat down and listened to Kate before. I REALLY like this album. lots of layered melodies, exotic themes, etc.

Apparently "Hounds of Love" is even better. Looking forward to getting that one.

Rated 8/10

The Fog is een exemplarisch nummer.

Rated 4/10

Unique art-rock. Kate Bush is an acquired taste which I really haven’t acquired. And not for lack of trying. It’s… the pitch, the whispery quality, too fragile, too twee. Some okay songs. Brings down the mood quite a lot. Well executed, better in the background and short doses. I just never really got her.

Rated 6/10

Very interesting. I mainly enjoyed the ethereal aspect of it. It was fun to listen to.

Rated 8/10

Makes a man want to get sensual in Castle Autism.

Rated 10/10

I guess this is my third five-star review for Kate Bush. Some great songs on here; as well as the title track and This Woman's Work, I liked Love and Anger and Deeper Understanding a lot. I love the bass sound on this album.

Rated 8/10

It's not as extraordinary as Hounds of Love, but what is? It's still great, and This Woman's Work is one of her best.

Rated 6/10

Ugh. I LOOVED hounds of love, but this album seems to be rehashing a lot of the sound on that album without the immediacy of that album. The last two songs are perfection, but it was a bit of a slog to get there.

Rated 4/10

She still has a great voice and some of the songs were good. Never saw the plot twist coming that Hitler was a good dancer 🤷

Rated 8/10

This was a fun album. 80's without being too 80's. Kate has a great voice. I'd listen again.

Rated 10/10

More majesty and wonder from Kate Bush. A bit more restrained on the first half and then she lets loose.

Rated 8/10

Kate Bush isn't Joycean, tho she lifts from Ulysses directly. She's Bjork before the Icelander broke thru, and if she were to mirror a literary figure, she'd be some amalgam of WB Yeats and Sylvia Plath (not to mention the obvious Emily Bronte, but that's a debut resemblance). True to its title, this record transcribes the items of a sensual world, but there's something so beautifully, explosively, taciturn about it that it's less about the inevitability of sexuality than its precarious potentials. These lines don't have me hot and bothered: 'Reaching out for mama'; 'It couldn't be you, it's a picture of Hitler'; 'I turn to my computer like a friend.' Vocally, she's as wild as ever, the music is 80s pop meets Orient(alism), Big Boi is still a fan, and so am I.

Rated 8/10

Confession time. I love Kate Bush. I could just give this a 5 and walk away. It's a cracking record.

But in the grand scheme of things if I had to rate all her albums then this wouldn't be in my top 5.
Although I still love it, if I was going to be ultra critical I think it's a tiny bit overproduced; some of the tracks just have too much going on in them. I get tired of fretless base which buries her voice in some places, and the Bulgarians do overdo it a bit.

But that IS being overcritical. I could still automatically give it a 5 because Kate can basically do no wrong.

But I'm going to be harsh and also give myself a bit of rating wiggle room before the joyous days whan I get Hounds of Love and The Dreaming (shame there aren't any more albums deemed worthy on the list). Please forgive me Kate.

Rated 4/10

I don't want to beat around the bush so: I don't like Kate's Music! 1 extra star for not having "up that hill" on this album

Rated 10/10

Another album I already knew and loved before I started the generator. Kate's music is just amazing - well, maybe not everything she made, but this album surely is phenomenal. It has some of my favorite Kate Bush songs, it's such a beautfiul experience to listen to it from start to finish. It's really worth listening.

Rated 4/10

Don't really like it. A few songs are fine, but over time it is more of the same.

Rated 6/10

Kate’s music always carries a feeling of otherworldliness that is appealing, but otherwise I didn’t find much to bite into on this one.

Rated 6/10

Kate Bush remains an enigma. Every time I revisit one of her albums, I find myself both intrigued and challenged. I’ve always struggled to fully connect with her work, as many of her songs tend to blend together for me.

That said, this album had its moments. Reaching Out and Heads We're Dancing stand out as fantastic pop tracks, showcasing her unique ability to tell stories through catchy melodies but there is also a lot of tracks that dont really offer much at all and all sound very similar.

Favorite track: Heads We're Dancing
Least favorite track: I struggle with whimsical, dreary songs like Deeper Understanding and Rockets tail.
Album artwork: A stunning cover that perfectly captures the album’s essence.
