Paul's Boutique is a good album but i think it is the weakest of the 3 Beastie Boys albums on the list. Beastie Boys albums tend to suffer from the issue of feeling too bloated as there are songs on them that i just feel are there to pad the album out and this album kinda helped me notice that far more. Some (if not most) of the tracks just feel like filler and tend to break the flow of the album making it feel a bit disjointed. That being said, it's far from bad. When the songs were not filler, they could be pretty solid and this album still has plenty of that Beastie Boys flair that i do enjoy quite a bit. Just, the filler that this album does have brings it down a fair bit.
Best Song: Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun
Worst Song: High Plains Drifter
Side note: Last Beastie Boys album so:
1. Ill Communication
2. Licensed To Ill
3. Paul's Boutique
Rated 10/10
I heard this album for the first time a couple years ago. It was one of my first introductions to rap as a genre, and it’s still one of my favorite of all time, let alone rap albums. From the production to the jokes, this album is perfection.

Eh...
Rated 2/10
I thought I liked the beastie boys but I think I might just like a few songs (none of which are on this album). I'm ranking purely on enjoyment and this is one the most irritating things I've ever listened to.
Rated 6/10
The second Beastie Boys album I've gotten! I think "Paul's Boutique" went down smoother this time round cause of the added prior experience, though I think I much prefer "Ill Communication". Their frat boy type humour still isn't my favourite, but I'm more here for the creative production and sampledelica than the lyrics.

Definitely some amusing bars here but mostly just not enjoyable to listen to for me
Rated 4/10
I somehow enjoyed this less than the first album I had to listen too. I will admit I did enjoy the interludes a lot. Still not excited for another 2 BB albums...
Rated 4/10
Well, this is infinitely better than whatever the fuck Ill Communication was. The album seems to have come out before the Beastie Boys discovered the concept of screaming their lungs out into a mic. Unfortunately, it doesn't mean that their music isn't still annoying, it just doesn't make me want to drill a hole in my head.
There are some funny songs ("Egg Man" is actually hilarious), and some good storytelling ("High Plains Drifters") but after a while, hearing a bunch of white boys rap (badly) about fucking nothing becomes lame. Also, the back-and-forth singing where they each say a couple of words... That's interesting at first, but a gimmick is a gimmick and it quickly becomes distracting.

My last reviewed album was Afrika Bamdaataa’s Planet Rock released in 1986. This is only three years later. I mentioned in that review how it was cool that they had sampled Kraftwerk in the first song. It’s amazing how fast music evolved in three years because this album is basically back to back samples. It’s a fun part album most people are already aware of. My only issue with the Beastie Boys is that the Run DMC, finish each other’s lines shtick kinda gets old when it’s every song on every album.
Rated 8/10
Complaining that the beastie boys yell is like complaining that water is wet.
Good energy, some good lines, enjoyable album. After rating a bjork album 3/5, it feels criminal to give this less than 4*
Rated 6/10
very fun but not something i’d intentionally seek out
Rated 6/10
The production is amazing and - I believe - groundbreaking at the time for its use of samples.
Over a whole album though, the issue for me is the vocals lack any dynamic range, depth or hooks. The end result is like some children have scribbled over a renaissance painting.
Rated 8/10
Not my favorite Beastie Boys album but the rhymes and lyrics are all pretty good, what else do you want me to say
Rated 6/10
Still not impressed with this group, but this was more tolerable than “licensed to ill”
Will not be diving deeper into their discography
Rated 6/10
On a technical level this is a great album. It has fantastic production and innovative use of samples, but I feel like they only really found their groove on a handful of songs here. A lot of this album feels like it fades into noise for me because the Boys' abrasive and unrefined rapping drowns out the production. I feel like they got a lot better at this aspect in their later albums, but then of course those had entirely different production styles. I wonder what this album might have sounded like if all these songs had been given to them to rap over 5 years later. I think it would have turned out better, but maybe that's just me.
Favourite tracks: Egg Man, Sounds of Science, Hey Ladies
Rated 8/10
Somehow dumb and genius at the same time
Rated 10/10
One of my most favorite albums ever. I have listened to this regularly for over 30 years. The importance of the Dust Brothers' influence on the Beastie Boys cannot be over emphasized.
Rated 8/10
On first listen: Samples are so random and funky; the vocals sound like cacophonous Bob Dylan
Months later:
Quirky sample-heavy hip hop. Goes beyond their frat-rap sound for more abstract ones.
Rated 8/10
Er svak for samples, men PB har aldri vært min favoritt av BB.
Rated 6/10
Razumijem zašto se drugima sviđa ali nikad nisam bila veliki ljubitelj njihovog zvuka, čak ni onih najpopularnijih pjesama.
