In my head these were more chaotic noise rock but this is somewhere between a grimier Stones, didn't like it as much as I'd hoped

Rated 4/10

I think that these guys (and critics of the time) thought that this band's sound was more novel than it is. It sounds like a Soundgarden cover band hired a Cedric Bixler-Zavala soundalike to play heavy brit rock songs. There are some times on this record which are very impressive (the second half of Getting Bright at Night) but more of this felt purely derivative. 2.4/5 -> 2/5

Like darker and noisier Jet. A little too drug addled for me. Every song devolved into this dude whining. Couldn’t finish don’t give af about your scumbag lifestyle. Sonic youth fans probably love this.

Rated 4/10

Startet lovende, som et litt røffere og mindre retro Jet. Kanskje litt nærmere The Datsuns.

Rated 4/10

At times this sounds like Primal Scream fronted by a low energy Bono. Somehow it’s not quite melodic enough, whilst also not being quite industrial enough. It feels like it needed to lean into one or the other a bit more to connect.
Whilst there are glimpses of promises it all just falls a bit flat and boring.

Rated 2/10

It was always a concern it would happen one day. I hoped it wouldn't, but it really did feel inevitable after all this time. I didn't want it to be true, but I have to admit: I may be turning into my mother.

This was just noise. So much noise you could barely hear the vocal. Seriously, the vocal was so low in the mix, I have no idea why they would choose to do that on purpose.

The weird noise that sounded a bit like a squeaky duck getting further and further away from the microphone at the end of Meatmaker might have been my high point.

I thought this was shite.

Band and album I had never heard of in a genre I like. It was good! I liked the sludgy elements added into that early 2000’s garage rock sound. Favorite songs were Up Against The Wall Motherfucker, On The Lash, Getting Bright At Night, and Seasick.

Rated 4/10

This albums biggest accolade was that it was included in this list....

Rated 4/10

Yay.. Yet another indie record, how many more of these will I have to endure? Once again, just few songs in I see absolutely nothing special about this, some Stooges influence, cool, some hardcore punk influence so at least it is a bit different from other indie offerings I got, but still I mean this is below average for me, not terrible but I can survive fine without this thanks

Rated 6/10

Are they trying to break the Guinness World Record for loudest garage rock? The Sonics beat them to it. This record sounds like easy listening metal as one reviewer put it. There's a bit of punk in there too, but it's nothing too interesting.

Rated 6/10

Just generally not feeling this one. It feels if the White Stripes were a noise rock band, but more on the classic blues rock sound vs White Stripes' alternative side. And I'm pretty bored with that classic blues rock sound.

Singer sound's like the singer from Jet as well (Or one of those late 2000's garage rock bands), and while I do like Are You Gonna Be My Girl?, it's not a voice I am really enamored with here.

Overally, this is generally just fine, but this is definitely an album I'd drop from the list for a more important/influential/better album.

Rated 4/10

First couple of tracks I was quite enjoying this. Unfortunately that wore off by track 4. By the end I was dying for this to end.

Is this the worst album on here? Not by a long shot but it’s way too long and there’s just nothing interesting or unique about it.

Top Track - Up Against The Wall Motherfucker

Rated 4/10

Gaaaaaaap.

I found this album super repetitive. I liked the first track, but it everything just sort of blended together after that.

Rated 2/10

The Good: This is going to be an interesting evening!
The Bad: I missed the memo that stated a Soiree can also be shit…
The Ugly: Nothing can get uglier than the penance of listening to this…

Noise… Shit noise… 1*

Rated 2/10

Some songs are too long. Don't like the music.

Rated 4/10

Meh … individually, each song was fine but I didn’t want to listen to 13 of them in a row.

In 1997, the band Sleater-Kinney proclaimed "words and guitar, I want it", well this is words and guitar and I don't want it.

Rated 4/10

Had a few cool riffs and licks but did not really get into any song as a whole.

It's like White Stripes / Iggy Pop without good hooks.
