Of course, I'd heard of the Beach Boys, and yeah, I'd also heard some of their songs, but I guess I never sat down and listened to one of their albums. Well, I sort of regret having done that, because I really did not enjoy it. The tracks are repetitive, the production quality is all over the map, and the lyrics sound like they were written by a 70s TV sitcom writer attempting to channel the ethos of a 1950's teenager. Only in radio-hit sized doses I guess...

Probably the only album I've listened to where a discussion about sandwiches is the best track.

Rated 8/10

The Beach Boys were probably my first popular music love. Amazing stuff. Brian Wilson's harmonys were incredible...such a savant. This album has some great tunes, but is just kept off the highest marks line. 4.5/5

I hate the beach boys. There's a couple good songs on here and the rest are bullshit filler. It would be the grossest thing about my day so far if I wasn't cleaning filthy drains.
It must have been nice to grow up in a world where all you have to do is worry about who your baby was gonna hold hands with and which 3000 square foot house you'd live in.

Rated 2/10

I don't really get why this is on the list. I'm not a huge Beach Boys fan, and never got into their albums in a big way. I just like their most famous songs, and none of them were on here. I didn't find any of the tracks particularly memorable or innovative whatsoever. Overall a miss for me, looking forward to listening to some of their other albums though.

Big fan of pet sounds but first time hearing this album, it’s good but doesn’t quiet match up to pet sounds. Can see the later songs leading building up to it. Good album and worthy of the list.

Rated 6/10

It's the first album where the Beach Boys show a bit more that they're talented. Where Brian Wilson takes the time to write songs.
It's the step between their surfpop and Petsounds.

You can hear it's coming, it's just not there yet.

Rated 8/10

More gold from The Beach Boys. I like the two halves approach of the album.

This is where Brian Wilson truly started to shine in his songwriting/arranging and studio alchemy. I used to have a nice copy of this on vinyl that I picked up from a thrift store back when you could still find decent records in thrift stores for a steal. I really like that they play with the album format and had different moods for each side of the record. The inclusion of "Bull Session with Big Daddy" at the end is sort of baffling but oh well - ah youth... Favorite tracks are "When I Grow Up" and "She Knows Me Too Well."

Rated 6/10

Not their best work, but still better than most other bands can do!

Okei, onhan se ihan hyvää se Beach Boys. Mukavan lyhyt levy myös, ei tauhkaa. 3/5

Rated 8/10

Enjoyed this, the arrangements, the harmonies, some of the lyrics are a bit suspect, but still classic album.
