Delightful. There's something wry and sweet and naive about TC as a songwriter that keeps me hooked into the next line.

Another lovely morrisey album where he is sad and judgemental. I know I shouldn't fall for it but I like his bitchiness.

I mean, I guess bjork had to be in a band at some point prior to the becoming bjork we know? I almost wish, in addition to the more experimental stuff she'd made, that she'd kept on with this kind of weirdo Icelandic pop-punk?

I like talking heads a good bit. At the start of disc 2 I thought to myself "this is a little like talking heads but includes the elements I don't really love". Like a sugar free version. Now, I love Weymouth's bass work for TH and how deeply nerdy TH is but I just felt like, devoid of knowledge of the provenance of this album, that it felt like French disco off-castings. Imagine my surprise.

Gross theatrical glam misogyny with just a hint of pedophilia in the background. Musically it's more complex and interesting than a lot of what was occuring in 1983 but all of that prowess was leveraged to then vomit out more bret Michael's-esque nonsense so what was it all for? I'm not sure if this was a joke or who was supposed to be in on it? I don't think it's me?

I'm kind of a sucker for a concept album. This is a really good one. There are places where it feels like it drags or loses cohesion. But in its high spots it is poetic and beautiful. The arrangements are lovely and hauntingly appropriate.

Just a bit too much like Phish and bill Callahan had a drony baby for me. That's mean. There is plenty of redemption here: clever lyrics, solid arrangements, and a nice balanced tone...this National album just feels a bit to samey for me.

Bonkers that this albums arrived like twenty years early...maybe thirty? It's interesting and fun and has twists and turns. I like Can.

Somewhere between jangle pop and Indy legend's Slint. Really interesting album. Drags a bit in spots and a plurality of tracks are somewhat forgettable. Still, I enjoyed the feel of the album a lot on a cool rainy day in August. Nice.
