It is precisely what is on the label. Self-indulgent and fun but sort of loses itself in a sea of same from time-to-time. The bright spots are in the last several tracks for me. As for the former? My feeling are similar to a Silver Jews lyric: "the stars don't shine upon us, we're just in the way of their light"

I remember enjoying this more but I felt it was a little overwrought in several areas. It's nice when a Byrd's song is around. A whole flock can be a bit much.

As one gets older one maybe slides slightly away from nirvana and towards the inevitable Pearl Jam.

There is only one and it's him. Weight and humor in absurd but equal measure. I'm not even a real fanatic but I have so much respect for his ability.

Slow and heavy and cold. So unusual for the era. A real showcase of style over talent. Fun without being too serious about it.

I never really understood what made Neil Young popular or lauded. This recording sounds like it was taken from the next room over, the music (aside from sedan delivery) isn't wildly innovative for the time, and lyrically it feels only fine. Maybe it isn't for me?

I liked that the fusion ran more towards African beats than Brazilian dance pop. This is a record I'd leave on if it was randomly playing. I think it's sort of a mood elevator musically. Can't comment on the lyricism as I don't speak the language.
