I could give this an extra star for being ahead of it's time, but REM did it better. Still great story telling and fascinating posture

Surprisingly cohesive and atmospheric with great tonal diversity

The driving motifs, the emotive journey, the clever wordplay, the absolute top tier vocal performances, the musical range and diverse inspiration, this is the greatest musical ever written and a delight start to finish. Please ignore that I can sing the whole thing from memory.

Understated in the extreme. pretty enough, but nothing soul shattering or breath taking.

Incredible sonic diversity, every song interesting in a new way. A dark delight start to finish

huh. I've loved this album a while, still very surprised to see it here. Hyperpop silliness with a wide range of emotion.

Achingly beautiful lyrics. Improved by the lack of adhering to meter and unconventional song structure, but missed a little on the outside. Somehow still one of my favorite albums.

The vocals felt week, but the instrumentation was deep and dense, great listen

What a delightful time capsule. I'm not sure why I've never heard any of these songs before, most of them could have been radio singles.

I knew St. Vincent by reputation, but never found a song that really grabbed me. Broken Man changed that. None of the other songs on this album quite rise to that level, but it's a cohesive whole, creating an uneasy but driving atmosphere. Great experience
This feels a little dated by electronica standards. Pretty danceable, but doesn't bring much new to the table.

Reminded me of breathier Sydney Gish. It was pretty.

The first song gave me some hope of a four star album, then the rest of the songs were worse.

understated lovely vocals, some beautiful sentiments, some pretty melody.

Gorgeous, interesting, drew me in and kept me

With the removal of I Am a Bird Now, I'm very pleased to see the inclusion of another transformationally vulnerable trans experience album. 1001 Album to Hear Before You Die says trans rights! I didn't love this one as much as I Am a Bird Now, but though the music was undeniably well crafted, it didn't quite scratch any of my itches.

Every song expressive and atmospheric. I've been sleeping on Billie too long.

I'm trying very hard not to let my loathing of the story to destroy my enjoyment of the album, but I'm not the biggest fan of the genre anyway. The opening track is the one I would have liked best and also the hardest to distance
