Fairly iconic name, band and songs. The album just doesn't do much for me. 3/5.

It's pleasant. Runs a bit long though. 3/5.

In terms of songwriting and the the style of singing there's nothing groundbreaking here. Talented singing but it's also lyrically immature. I can't tell if this is a noteworthy time capsule of female expectations/gender roles or a 19 year old's delusions. Can you have truly insightful/noteworthy relationship experiences by 19? I don't think so. 2.5/5. Raising to 3.

Odd decision for the production on the first song with the fake live sound. Album is all over the place really. Papa is the clear standout and takes up nearly 12 of the 34 mins. 2.5/5. Raising to 3.

David Bowie is cool. We can all agree on that. This album is ok though. I really want to love it but it's nothing ground breaking. 3/5.

Can definitely see how this influenced Talking Heads. Very similar vibe. Probably ahead of it's time. 2.5/5. Raising to 3.

That was painful. 80s sitcom music. 2/5.

The pervious reviews got my hopes up. Brass in Pocket is decent. The rest is boring. I don't see whats so special that this deserves a place on the list.
2/5.

This was peak around my college and clubbing days. Catchy and innovative. Was never a huge fan though. 3/5.

Starts with one of the greatest songs of all-time. Truely timeless. The rest of the album doesn't reach those heights again but it's still a great album. 4/5.

Utter shite. 1/5.

Helplessly Hoping was the stand out for me. Wasn't a fan of the album overall. 2.5/5. Raising to 3.

3rd Elvis Costello album, and the weakest so far. 2.5/5. Raising to 3.
Rated 10/10
Can't say I've listened to this album in full before. Darker, heavier and more raw than Nevermind. I got my timeline mixed up thinking this was an earlier album. Maybe it's just hitting today but I can't fault the album.
It has style, substance and in terms of music history what happens the following year is as sad as it gets. 5/5.
It's as good as any punk from this era I've heard. Second half of the album falls off but it started strong. 3/5.

Dont need two Def Leppard albums on the list. I can appreciate it's place in history. It's just not my thing. 2.5/5. Raising to 3.
