HysteriaDef Leppard

Rated 8/10

I don't believe I've ever listened to this album start-to-finish.

The Mutt Lange-produced albums by Def Leppard are just hard to deny. You might want to hate it, but deep down, they're just good, maximalist hard rock. I think I prefer Pyromania to this album though.

I like Muse and am familiar with this album, it's in my library. But this is not Muse's best. Not by a long-shot. After the Absolution album, they got stuck in this mode of perpetually making hollow arena rock anthems.

The BendsRadiohead

Rated 6/10

I'm not a fan of Radiohead, and I don't believe I've listened to this album start-to-finish. I generally dislike Thom Yorke as a singer. On their later albums, they also tend to just _not_ rock, which is a weird thing for a rock band to do.

This being one of their earlier albums, it's still got a fair bit of rock in it, but it's also still very much suffering from my distaste for Thom Yorke's singing. I don't hate this album, but I'm definitely not going to listen to it again.

Rated 8/10

This is my first time listening to this album start-to-finish, though I do recognize a few of these tracks by title.

This is pretty darn good. I'll add this to my list of albums to listen to again.

I'm aware of this artist, but I'm not sure if I've ever heard anything by them, and this is definitely the first time I'm listening to this album.

I don't hate this, but I don't feel compelled to listen to it again.

RisquéChic

Rated 6/10

I'm obviously aware of a few of these tracks, but I've never sat down to listen to this start-to-finish.

I'm not a fan of disco. The track "Good Times" is too long. But I didn't hate the other songs though.

I'm completely unaware of this artist.

I enjoyed this. The production is good, and the songwriting is pretty solid. I'm not sure it truly belongs on this list, but there's plenty of other albums I either know or have had to listen to which _do not_ belong on this list. So at some level I appreciate being exposed to an artist I've never heard before, even if maybe this specific album might not belong with the albums that truly are "albums you must hear before you die." But maybe this list needs more artists I have no awareness of and less of, say, Morrissey.

I've never sat down to listen to a Monkees album start-to-finish.

It's not bad, but certainly derivative of early Beatles. And considering that the Beatles had moved on to different things by the time this came out, it really just reinforces the feeling that this is just a cash-grab by the industry to manufacture content rather than actual artistic expression by an organic music group.

I'm not a fan of Kanye West, but I'd consider a few of the singles from this album to be guilty pleasures. I've never listened to this album start-to-finish, so we'll see how this goes.

Yeah, definitely file this under "guilty pleasures." I'm hoping that whatever the fractions of a cent will be paid to Kanye as a result of my streams will be put to use getting Kanye some help with his mental health.

SisterSonic Youth

Rated 2/10

Sonic Youth just aren't my thing. I like other noise projects, but somehow Sonic Youth just doesn't strike me. It's just kind of frustrating how they always sound like they don't know how to tune their instruments nor even really play them properly at all, even after all these years.

Once again, this is not a good album by Sonic Youth.

Rated 8/10

I'm familiar-enough with the hits on this album, but I don't believe I've ever listened to this album start-to-finish. I imagine I'll enjoy this quite a bit.

Yeah, this is quite good.

I'm quite familiar with this album, but very much enjoy it. There are some tracks I don't enjoy as much as others, but overall this is pretty darn good.

Rated 10/10

I haven't listened to this album in quite a while. It'll be fun to revisit it.

Yeah, I probably don't listen to this album enough.

This site introduced me to Barry Adamson previously with "Moss Side Story." I remembered finding that album interesting, and let's see if the same happens for this album.

Once again, I don't hate this, and I suspect I might enjoy this more on further listens. I'll add this to my list of albums to listen to again.

I don't believe I've ever heard of this group, though the band's name is generic enough that maybe it just never registered.

This is not good. This singer doesn't sound good and lacks control, not in a good way. And in general this is just boring. I suppose I understand why I've never heard of this group and why this album is not available to stream. The thing I _don't_ understand is why this is on this list.

I've never really sat down to listen to a Velvet Underground album start-to-finish before, but I will say that what little I have heard of theirs, it just doesn't strike me as being great. I don't think I recognize any of these songs by title. So we'll see what happens during this listening session.

Yeah, this is just thoroughly meh.

I think I'm only familiar with the song "Easter Theatre" because of the "Strong Songs" podcast. Otherwise, I don't really know much of anything about XTC. I feel like I thought "Easter Theatre" was just an odd song based on the podcast episode, but we'll see what happens with the rest of this.

I think the vocals are just too off-putting. It's like they're constantly way at the top of their own range. It also seems like they might have taken a lot of drugs during the making of this, but not the right kinds of drugs that for great music... not that I'm condoning doing drugs. It's not bad, but I thoroughly don't get why it's on this list.

I don't believe I've ever heard of this band before.

I prefer it when noise music combines noise with tuneful elements. This is lacking in tunefulness, and it makes it pretty tedious.

I'm aware of this album, but have never listened to it start-to-finish. I suspect there will be two tracks I'll really like, and the rest and gonna be meh.

Yup, as expected, there are only two songs on here I recognize and like. The rest is thoroughly meh.
