Rated 6/10

This is not a style I'm really familiar with.

I found some tracks or passages interesting though. For instance: "Genesis", "Let There Be Light" (second half of the track), "Phantom Pt. II" (probably my favourite track), "Valentina", "THHHEE PPAARRTTYY" (it is fun), "DVNO" (funky bass in the last part of the song), or "Stress" (with an "interesting" video clip by the way).

Overall, this in the range of 2,5 stars for me. Probably awarding 3 stars as I found this was definitely worth listening.

MottMott the Hoople

Rated 8/10

Very good album. I was somewhat familiar with Mott the Hoople (I own their album "All The Young Dudes"), but this one exceeded my expectations.

It is a very solid 4 star album. I think that all songs are really good. It is very interesting to hear their songs with influences from both Bowie (and glam rock in general) and Dylan (especially in Ian Hunter's voice).

It is difficult to pick individual songs. I enjoyed "All The Way From Memphis" or "Violence" (both on the glam side), but also "Ballad of Mott the Hoople, "Hymn for the Dudes" or "I Wish I Was Your Mother" (with a more Dylanesque sound).

I also enjoyed "El Camino Doloroso" (very nice guitar).

Overall, a very solid 4 star album. At least for me, it's not 5 stars because, even if I think all songs are really good, I would need at least 2 or 3 great songs to reach that level.

Rated 8/10

Good album.

I was obviously familiar with the name of the band and had heard some of their songs but never paid attention.

I found this one pretty interesting. One thing I like is that some of the songs seem relatively "boring"...until they introduce some key change or nice arrangement.

Some songs I enjoyed: "Freak Scene", "No Bones", "They Always Come" (loved the second half of the song), "Yeah We Know" (probably my favourite, especially also in the second half), "Pond Song", or "The Post" (reminds me of "The Smashing Pumpkins").

This is a solid 4 star album for me.

BossanovaPixies

Rated 8/10

Very good album. In my opinion, not as good as "Doolittle" (I gave that one 5 stars), but still a solid 4 star album (in the range of 4,5 if it were a bit shorter).

Some songs I enjoyed: "Velouria", "Is She Weird?", "Ana" (great guitar work), "All Over The World", "Dig For Fire", "The Happening" (loved the vibe and rythm section of this one; probably my favourite), or "Havalina".

I'm looking forward to listening to the next (and last) Pixies' album in this project.

Very good album.

My favourite album, by one of the best bands, in one of my favourite genres (grunge).

This may have been a 10/10 if a bit shorter. But, in any case, it clearly deserves 5 stars for me.

This album became extremely popular thanks to "Black Hole Sun" (and associated videoclip). I think this is indeed a great track, though not my favourite.

Some other songs I particularly enjoy: " My Wave", "Fell On Black Days", "Superunknown" (probably my favourite track), "Head Down", "Spoonman", "Limo Wreck", "The Day I Tried To Live", or "4th of July".

But, overall, I find all songs are, at least, pretty good. And, of course, Chris Cornell's vocals are impressive by the way.

BummedHappy Mondays

Rated 6/10

Not a huge fan of this Madchester sound, though it is at least quite original and interesting.

Overall, this is in the range of 2,5 stars for me.

Some songs I enjoyed: "Performance" (probably my favourite), "Wrote For Luck", or "Lazytitis".

I think that, because of its distinctive sound, it deserves 3 stars.

Good album. I actually own it, but last time I listened to it was several years ago.

It exceeded my expectations. I thought I would only enjoy "White Rabbit" (which I've always liked and found very interesting), but I ended up enjoying a pretty large number of songs: "Somebody To Love", "Today" (really liked the guitar work here), "Coming Back To Me", "3/5 of a Mile in 10 Seconds" (very good), or "Plastic Fantastic Lover".

It is also clear that, at least for me, the more involved Grace Slick is, the better (similar feeling as with Stevie Nicks in Fleetwood Mac).

It's in the range of 3,5 stars for me (but giving this 4 stars because of "White Rabbit").

Good album.

Catchy and direct songs (and short overall album). Pretty good power pop or jangle pop. Not a big fan of the "Mrs. Robinson" cover (it is obviously a good song, but I don't think it fits here).

Some tracks I enjoyed: "Confetti", "It's a Shame About Ray", "Rudderless" (together with "Confetti", probably my favourite), or "My Drug Buddy" (I found the second half of the album was less inspired).

Overall, it's in the 3,5 star range for me. It's a shame that, at least for me, the album is quite irregular and the best tracks happen to be tracks 2 to 5 in a row. For this reason, overall, i think it falls short of the 4 stars.

DocumentR.E.M.

Rated 8/10

Very good album.

I really like R.E.M., and this album contains two of my favourite tracks in their catalogue: "Finest Worksong" (probably my favourite in the album) and "It's The End Of The World...".

Other than those, I also enjoy "The One I Love", "Welcome To The Occupation", "Disturbance At The Heron House", "Fireplace", or "King Of Birds".

Overall, this is at least 4 stars for me. Probably not good enough to reach 5 stars...but pretty close.

Well, this is obviously a very good album.

My favourite track is "Cinnamon Girl", which is a song I've liked for decades.

Other songs I enjoyed: "Round & Round (It Won't Be Long)", "Down By The River" (pretty close to "Cinnamon Girl"), or "Cowgirl In The Sand".

This is at least 4 stars, but I'm not sure it reaches the 5 star level.

I had never heard of "The Only Ones" but I liked the album.

Some tracks I enjoyed: "Another Girl, Another Planet", "Breaking Down" (nice jazzy sound), "The Beast" (probably my favourite, really like the vocal delivery and the guitar work), "It's The Truth", "No Peace For The Wicked" (which sounds ahead of its time), or "The Immortal Story" (mostly the instrumental second half).

In general, I like the punk tracks, but I prefer the slower, longer, ones.

Pretty varied and interesting. In the range of 4 stars for me.

Back in BlackAC/DC

Rated 10/10

Great album.

If you like hard rock, I don't see how you can rate this with less than 4 stars.

The opener ("Hells Bells"), including the bells intro, is simply perfect. It is probably my favourite track of the album (also because of its position to set the mood for the whole record).

Of course, the other three classic songs ("Shoot to Thrill", "Back in Black", and "You Shook Me All Night Long") are also great.

Among the "non-classics", I also enjoyed: "Let Me Put My Love Into You" (yes, I know the lyrics are pretty lame), "Shake a Leg" (nice guitar solo), or " Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution".

This may not be a 10 out of 10 album...but I think it is good enough to deserve a 5 out of 5.

Of all the AC/DC studio albums, this is the one I would recommend to someone who is not familiar with their music (although their live albums are also a great introduction).

It's a good album, but I didn't feel it was that great.

Some songs remind me a bit of The Beatles, which is always good.

A particular "problem" I have is that, for some reason, I don't like "Without You" (probably I've heard it way too many times...Mariah Carey version).

I clearly enjoyed two songs much more than the others: "Coconut" and "Jump Into The Fire" (my favourite track).

Overall, a solid 3 star album.

Blue RevAlvvays

Rated 8/10

Ok, so this is a pretty new album.

I like it, although I guess this is one of those albums that requires a few listens to be fully appreciated.

In any case, it is at least 3 stars. Actually it's in the 3,5 range, but I'm not sure if it reaches the 4 star threshold. Probably yes.

It is also good that the album quite short, with direct songs that sound quite different from each other.

Some songs I enjoyed: ""Pharmacist", "After The Earthquake", "Easy On Your Own?", "Pressed", "Very Online Guy", "Velveteen", "Tile By Tile", or "Belinda Says" (probably my favourite).

By the way, most of these songs are better in their live arrangements.

And, in any case, glad this was added to the project (otherwise I may have never heard this album...or even this band).

It is a good album, although I thought I would enjoy it more than I did. I may need to give it a couple more listens. In fact, I have listened to the whole album three times and it is starting to grow on me.

Some songs I enjoyed: "Terrible Love", "Sorrow" (very good, probably my favourite), "Bloodbuzz Ohio", "Runaway", "Lemonword", or "Conversation 16". In fact, I'd say my real favourite may be "Terrible Love (Alternate Version)". Also, the live versions of "Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks" are really worth checking.

As of today, this is the range of 3,5 stars. However, rounding up to 4 stars as I'm confident it will continue growing on me (and, also because, after listening to this album, I'm looking forward to listening to some of their other works).

This is a good album.
However, it has a couple of problems:
1) It is too long (and many of the individual songs also extend for too long)
2) "Bitter Sweet Symphony" and "The Drugs Don't Work" are real urban hymns. These two tracks are iconic and really good. The rest of the tracks are not even close to these two masterpieces.

However, it is still a very good album. And there are other songs I actually enjoyed: "Sonnet", "The Rolling People" (it reminds me of Oasis. It would be better if shorten to 5 min), "Space And Time" (Coldplay vibes...in the good sense and, of course, predating it. And, once more, the last two min are not really needed), "Weeping Willow", "Lucky Man", or "One Day" are also good. And, by the way, "Come On" is also a pretty solid rock track.

Overall, this is between 3 and 4 stars but, I think that it deserves 4 stars (and let's just skip two or three songs to make this a very good 50 min album). Also giving this one 4 stars because I actually like some of the solo work by Richard Ashcroft.

Disraeli GearsCream

Rated 8/10

Very good album. I've always thought this is the best thing Clapton has ever done.

I really enjoy some of the songs: "Strange Brew" (probably my favourite), "Sunshine of Your Love", "Tales of Brave Ulysses", or "SWLABR" (it is not surprising that these were the singles).

Some other tracks are less interesting (and I simply don't like the last track: "Mother's Lament").

Overall, this is at least 4 stars for me (but probably not good enough to reach 5 star status).

AqualungJethro Tull

Rated 6/10

It's definitely a good album. However, I find the sound of this album has not aged very well.

I'm not a big fan of the flute (in general), and I don't really like how the instrument is used here.

Some tracks I enjoyed: "Aqualung", "Cross-Eyed Mary", "Hymn 43", "Locomotive Breath", or "Wind-Up" (probably my favourite).

For me, this is in the 3,5 star range. But, mostly due to the flute, I think 3 stars are enough.
