Very good album. At times, it reminded me of The Replacements (and I love The Replacements).

I think I enjoyed more this album than "Slanted and Enchanted" (which I found was already very good).

Some songs I especially enjoyed: "Silence Kid", "Stop Breathing" (probably my favourite, together with "Filmore Jive"), "Cut Your Hair" (very catchy), "Newark Wilder", "Range Life", "Heaven is a Truck", or the already mentioned "Filmore Jive".

This is like 4,5 stars. Probably a bit short for the 5 stars (but really close).

This is interesting. I'm always a bit reluctant to award high marks to albums that are mostly or entirely based on material that is not original.

However, I found this one really uplifting. Great instrumentation, great singing... So, in this case, I think I'll be giving this album 4 stars. In any case, it is definitely in the 3,5 range.

It's a good album, but it is mostly covers. I find it strange that this is included in the list (especially if we take into account that the first album by the Beatles, with songs such as "Please, Please Me", "I Saw Her Standing There", "Misery", "Love Me Do"...) was not included.

Back to the Stones, I think the selection is impeccable (I particularly enjoyed "Mona", "I'm a King Bee", "Walking The Dog", or "Not Fade Away" (only in the US version)).

The original material is also pretty good. Actually, "Tell Me" (which is clearly a departure from the rest of the album) is very good (probably my favourite track).

I also found interesting that "Tell Me" (the only composition by Jagger-Richards) is the longest track.

In any case, when taking into account the lack of original material, I think this is in the range of 3 stars.

I have the impression that this is underrated. I found it very good. It is true that it lacks coherence as Young, Stills and Furay contributed very distinct compositions...but that also makes the album interesting.

I particularly enjoyed "Mr. Soul", "Everydays" (nice jazzy sound), "Expecting To Fly" (probably my favourite), "Bluebird", "Rock n' Roll Woman", or "Broken Arrow". One thing is clear: the songs by Young are great.

I think this deserves at least 4 stars. The songs by Young push this upwards, whereas a couple of songs by Furay are not that good.

This is fantastic. I loved this album. I had never listened to a complete Talking Heads' album but this was great. I only knew a handful of songs, and I actually attended a gig by David Byrne a few weeks ago (which was great).

This album exceeded my expectations (and those were already very high). The lyrics are great, imaginative, different. The vocals are also great. The music is extremely interesting (I guess Brian Eno, whose work with Bowie I love, may have helped). Loved the bass and guitar work.

Overall, a 5 star album. I enjoyed all songs, but I can probably indicate some of the highlights: "I Zimbra", "Paper", "Memories Can't Wait", "Life During Wartime", "Air", "Heaven", "Electric Guitar", or "Drugs".

Another reggae album. I'd say this genre is probably overrepresented. Once more, the album is ok but not my favourite style. So, three stars for me. I enjoyed "Slavery Days" or "The Invasion". And, in any case, the lyrics and the overall message of the album are indeed interesting.

This was ok. To be honest, I enjoyed the album but I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting this to be more rock influenced (actually, RATM has a cover for "How I Could Just Kill A Man"). Some tracks I enjoyed: "Pigs", "How I Could Just Killed A Man", or "Latin Lingo". "Tres Equis" has nice music...but the lyrics. Overall, I think this was ok. If not for my relatively high expectations, this may have reached 4 stars. However, because I was a bit disappointed, I'm giving it 3 stars.

Another hip-hop album. This is among the ones I enjoyed the most. Again, not my style, but I enjoyed most of the tracks. Interestingly, the song I enjoyed the most is the extra track ("Good Thang"). Other songs I liked: "Johnny Is Dead", "Won't Trade", "Getting Up", "Move/Renaissance Rap" (nice two-part track) or "Life Is Better". This is a solid 3,5 stars for me.

Excellent album. 5 stars. It's my favourite album by The Smashing Pumpkins. It is excessive, but really good. Of course, it is very long but, in this case, that is ok. I like each and every track in this album. To name a few favourites: "Tonight, Tonight", "Zero", "Bullet With Butterfly Wings", "To Forgive", "Cupid de Locke", "Galapogos" (probably my favourite), "Porcelina Of The Vast Oceans", "Bodies", "Thirty-Three", "1979" (a classic), "Tales of a Scorched Earth" (nice aggressive contrast with the previous "1979"), "X.Y.U.", or "By Starlight". And probably a couple of songs I don't like that much: "An Ode To No One", "We Only Come Out At Night",

Another reggae album, and another album that I think is ok but not particularly interesting. For me, this is simpky ok, so 3 stars.

Well. This is very easy to rate: 5 stars (as far as I'm concerned, The Beatles play in a different league).

The guitar work in the song "A Hard Day's Night" is iconic and hugely influential (with probably the most famous and recognizable chord in pop music history to begin the song).

Songs I enjoyed: "A Hard Day's Night" (of course), "I Should Have Known Better", "If I Fell" (probably my favourite), "I'm Happy..."...well, it is actually all of them. From the opening track to "I'll Be Back" (which happens to be also absolutely great), there are no skips here.

Ringo and Paul are great on drums and bass, and the guitar work by George and John is simply perfect. And then, of course, we have the vocal harmonies...

Vol 4Black Sabbath

Rated 8/10

Not my favourite Black Sabbath album, but still a very good one. The instrumental sections (for instance, "The Straightener") are great.

I basically enjoy all the songs. No skips. In any case, some songs I particularly enjoyed: the already cited "The Straightener", "Changes" (a classic, even if purists may have complained when first published), "Supernaut", "Snowblind", "Laguna Sunrise", or "Under The Sun" (great dark intro and I also like the lyrics).

This is between 4 and 5 stars. I'll be giving this one 4 stars because I know even better albums by Black Sabbath are included in this project.

RisquéChic

Rated 6/10

As with the other album by Chic, I also found this one pretty good. This is also between 3 and 4 stars. Songs I enjoyed: "Good Times" (clearly my favourite) or "What About Me". I also like that the album is pretty short (less than 40 min) and somewhat varied. Great bass and guitar work.

This is difficult to rate. The songs are good and catchy, but it is difficult to feel "really connected" to them because they sound, obviously, very old.
In any case, I think this deserves at least 3 stars (and it definitely deserves a spot in this project). I particularly enjoyed "Not Fade Away" (I guess because I was already familiar with this tune because of the Rolling Stones),

DookieGreen Day

Rated 8/10

Good album. I was never a fan of Green Day (I was more into grunge, hard-rock, or heavy metal). And I prefer other punk acts like the Sex Pistols or the Ramones, but this is still pretty good. This is a solid 3,5 star album for me. Some songs I enjoy: "Chump" (I like the bass riff and instrumental second half of the song), "Longview" (probably my favourite), "Welcome to Paradise", "Basket Case", "When I Come Around", or "F.O.D.".

This is a indeed a good album. However, I prefer the one at Folsom (which seems to be also included in this project). Favourite tracks here include "I Walk The Line" (obviously), "A Boy Named Sue", or "Folsom Prison Blues". Overall, this is a 4 star album for me.

Very good album. 10 songs and less than 40 minutes. That's how it should be. It is a bit "too folk" for my personal taste and, for some reaaon, I prefer when Richard sings. Some songs I enjoyed: "When I Get To The Border" (probably my favourite), "The Cavarly Cross" (nice guitar), "Down Where the Drunkards Roll", "Has he got Friend for me", "The End of the Rainbow", or "The Great Valerio" (nice outro). Overall, I think this deserves a solid 4 star rating.

Not exactly my favourite genre, bit I found this one very enjoyable. My favourite track is (no surprises): "We Are Family". I particularly like the bass and guitar sound. Overall, I think this deserves 4 stars.

This is another very good album by Joni Mitchell. It's more varied than Blue, with some more rock and jazz influences. Songs I enjoyed: "Help Me", "Free Man in Paris", "Car on a Hill", "Down to You" (great arrangement and probably my favourite track in the album), "Raised on Robbery" (a great "rocker"), or "Trouble Child" (great lyrics). Actually, the song I enjoyed the less is "Twisted", which happens to be the only cover in the album . Overall, I think it deserves 5 stars as part of this project.

This is a fun album. I liked it. Good vibe hip-hop and, in that sense, it sounds pretty refreshing. Both the music and the lyrics are ok. Some lyrics are actually very good. However, as always with hip-hop albums, I also found this one a bit too long. I guess, that's also because I'm not a big fan of the genre. Overall, a solid 3 star (though I can totally see some people rating this higher). Some songs I enjoyed, "Officer", "Passin' My By" (probably my favourite), or "Otha Fish".
