Dude loves gross squelchy wet noises. Sounds like you're floating through deep space while high on mushrooms. Ambient electronica mixed with trip hop. Nice background music while I work, but never something I would actively seek out to sit down and listen to. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing to write home about neither.

Japansese experimental noise rock. Kinda like My Bloody Valentine, but better. Definately toes into the waters of stoner rock, doom metal, and drone rock a bit too. Insanely fuzzy, but not to the point of not being able to hear the intricacies of what else is taking place in the background. Just a constant driving sludgy fuzz, but polished.

Definately a front loaded album. Once you get to Pseudo Bread, it's all downhill from there... The first half of the album is solid though.

Favourite songs: Pink, Electric, Woman on the Screen, Nothing Special

Least favourite songs: Blackout, Pseudo Bread, "Six, Three Times"

Juvenile rap. Terrible rhymes (many times "rhyming" the same word twice...like how hard is it to find a word that rhymes with 'did'....). Slang and slander thrown around like a middle school cafeteria full of kids trying to be tough... This just.... Isn't it..... Read a dictionary.

Favourite songs: Illuminate, Double Standards, Soulo Ho3

Least favourite songs: Lust Demons, and most of the rest of this album...

Beach country isn't my favourite sub-genre of country, but it's not bad. Kenney Chesney definately studied Jimmy's playbook when it comes to sound and style.

Least favourite songs: Presents to Send You

Solid techno/house. I really like The Chemical Brothers. We had 2 more of their albums on this generator in the past (Exit Planet Dust, and Dig Your Own Hole) and both of those were really solid as well!

Favourite songs: No Reason, Live Again, The Weight, Feels Like I Am Dreaming, Goodbye, Skipping Like a Stone

3 issues with this album: 1) it's a soundtrack..... 2) Charli XCX has 2 albums featured on the new additions made to the list.... Pick one, not 2 out of 13.....3) this album isn't even a year old..... Way too new to be included. There should be a minimum age applied to the list....

I mean... The music isn't terrible.... But I really don't understand why it was deemed "necessary listening". What does this album do to further progress the art of music? Nothing. It will be forgotten about within 6 months.

I also have issues with soundtracks in general taken out of context being recommended on a list like this. If you've seen the film in question, they may hit better than someone who hasn't seen it. There are very few movie soundtracks that can stand alone as a good album without previously viewing the movie they represent.

Favourite songs: Chains of Love, Dying for You, Out of Myself

Least favourite songs: Eyes of the World

This is the death song of a no longer relevant 60's blues rock band who are trying to make more money to pay for their nursing home fees. It's always sad to hear an older band try to hang in the landscape of modern music. It just doesn't work. There is a statute of limitations on how long you can make music that doesn't make the general populace cringe. Perhaps it's once your lead singers voice is so old and weathered that it needs autotune in order to sound good enough to make a record. This meander into pop rock is kinda gross and off putting as well, considering they started life as a gritty blues rock number. I'm not the biggest Stones fan, but this sounds like music made by a band that the traditional Stones band would beat up for beer money. Please, just retire.

Dimery has completely lost focus on what this list is all about. He just threw a handful of random "New" albums at a wall and called it good enough so he could sell a few more books. The user who asked whether Elvis Costello is still making music made me laugh. The same could be asked about The Byrds lol.

Mick probably wants to "get close" to some woman so he can hear what she's saying to him, because they just dug him out of some sarcophagus to make this album.

As many have said, this album sounds.... Ok..... But when reviewed from the lens of the bands larger works, it's just a desparate plea to try and stay relevant. I'll remember the Stones for what they were thanks, not whatever this is....

Someone commented that it sounds like pro wrestlers theme music and that's accurate af. I can think of no better way to describe it lolol.

It's like a mix of electronic music (grime maybe...) and alt rock. It's that weird electronic hard rock that kids tend to really like these days. I'm personally not a fan. I'm not young enough to see the appeal. I mean, it's fine, just not my thing.

God damn, that precussion! These dudes were using whatever they could get their hands on to maintain a beat! This is early jangly indie rock. Often cited by REM as a huge influence for them. I'd neve heard of The Feelies before, and was admittedly, too quick to write this off as another terribly mid 80's dork band based on the album cover, but man was I surprised. Tons of musical fusion and experimentation going on here.
