Don't be fooled. This is just indie with violins....

Favourite songs: This is the Dream of Win & Regine, You Took Two Years to Win My Heart

Least favourite songs: Furniture, Better Than Worse

2/5

The second Porcupine Tree album I've listened to on the post list (the first being Fear of a Blank Planet). I liked this album a lot more than the other one. These guys are like prog lite. Not bad at all.

Favourite songs: Shallow, Halo, Open Car, Start of Something Beautiful, Deadwing, Lazarus

Least favourite songs: Glass Arm Shattering

4/5

If it weren't for the inclusion of Angelo de Augustine, this album would have easily been a 5. I can't stand Angelo's singing (or whispering I should say). Because of that, this album suffers a bit. Still a solid chamber pop album though. Beautifully haunting.

Favourite songs: Back to Oz, Olympus, Chimmerian Shade, Reach Out, Lady Macbeth in Chains, Murder and Crime, (This is) The Thing, Fictional California, The Pillar of Souls

Least favourite songs: Beginner's Mind

4/5

Simply amazing Spanish guitar playing!! Thank you for recommending.

Favourite songs: Almoraima, Rio Ancho, Cueva Del Gato, Ole

Least favourite songs: A La Perla De Cadiz

5/5

Not as strong of an album as the two that were featured on the original list (Heartbreaker, and Gold), but still not bad alt country. Reminds me of Bruce Springsteen or Jason Isbell.

Favourite songs: English Girls Approximately, Hotel Chelsea Nights, Love Is Hell, The House is Not for Sale, The Shadowland, Please Do Not Let Me Go, World War 24

Least favourite songs: My Blue Manhattan

3/5

No album needs to be 2 hours long.... May have enjoyed it more if it didn't overstay its welcome so bad...

This is like lo-fi noise pop? It sounds like it was recorded in mono and played through an AM radio, which gives it a bit of a nostalgic feel.

Favourite songs: GAYBLEVISION, Olive Drab, Diamond Jubilee, Dreams of You, Wild One, Glitz, All I Want is You, Durham City Limit

Least favourite songs: Kingdom Come, Realistik Heaven, Deepest Blue, To Heal This Wounded Heart, Golden Microphone, 24/7 Heaven

2/5 (woulda been 3 but it's just waaayyy to fucking long)

Not bad synth pop, but definately overstays it's welcome.

Favourite songs: I Want Your Love, Night Drive, Accelerator

Least favourite songs: Tomorrow is So Far Away, Killing Spree

3/5

CurrentsTame Impala

Rated 8/10

Favourite songs: The Less I Know the Better, "New Person, Same Old Mistakes", The Moment, Let it Happen, Reality in Motion, Past Life

Least favourite songs: Nangs

I'm glad Olaf from Frozen could make a cameo on this album in the literal first seconds of the first song.....

Kids who haven't been alive long enough to know what music is shouldn't be allowed to recommend albums. Also, something that was nominated for Best Engineered Album at the 2023 Grammy's should be automatically deleted from any list of albums, unless it is a list of albums that mark mankind's downfall. At what point does music stop being music and start being the brain droppings of computer AI software? Caroline Polachek contributed literally nothing to this album except some lyrics which were then auto tuned to holy hell and laid over regurgitated computer pop noises. This is truly awful, and makes me sad for humanity.

If you are someone who considers this music, I truly feel sorry for you. This is nothing but a computer science experiment. Government agencies should use this album as a form of torture.

Favourite songs: Sunset

Least favourite songs: Bunny is a Rider (who thinks a baby crying would make a satisfying back beat? 44 million people apparently.... I weap for humanity... ), Hopedrunk Everasking (please change the batteries in your smoke detector before recording any more tracks....) and the rest of this gross drivel....

1/5

Do you like fuzzy distortion, moaning, and lo fi noise? This heap of shit may be for you. Do you long to have a horrible migraine? Look no farther!

Who the fuck pops this album into a list like this? What absolute mongoloid thinks this is music? Cavemen made better music beating on rocks with sticks...

Favourite songs: Times New Viking Vs. Yo La Tengo (simply because it's instrumental, so I don't need to listen to a juvenile pillock moan in my ear)

Least favourite songs: Come Together, and the rest of this abysmal trash

1/5 (0/5 if I could).... Thanks for the headache.....

This is the New Order album that should have been included on the original list. Technique was a solid album, but this one has no duds on it. Solid 80's new wave.

Favourite songs: Age of Consent, Ecstacy, 5 8 6, The Village

Least favourite songs: We All Stand

4/5

Favourite songs: Monkey Wrench, My Hero, My Poor Brain, Everlong, Wind Up, "Hey, Johnny Park!", Enough Space, The Colour and the Shape

Least favourite songs: Walking After You

5/5

Ska punk, very similar to Goldfinger or The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Pretty solid actually. These guys do it well. Reminds me of skate punk music from the 90's that you would hear in the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series.

Favourite songs: "Down, Down, Down to Mephisto's Cafe", We Will Fall Together, Somewhere in the Between, Would You Be Impressed?, Forty Days, The Receiving End of it All

Least favourite songs: What a Wicked Gang We Are

4/5

Indie pop that is a dead ringer for Owl City. Nothing to get too excited about. Lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie started this band in collaboration with Jimmy Tamborello.

Favourite songs: Sleeping In, Such Great Heights, We Will Become Silhouettes

Least favourite songs: Nothing Better, This Place Is a Prison

3/5

Experimental rock mixed with indie. Some middle eastern soundscapes mixed in. The exotic sounds helps with the indie, but it is still indie. It just ends up being a lot of moaning. 2080 is a certified banger though.

Favourite songs: 2080, Germs, Red Cave

Least favourite songs: "Ah, Weir", Forgiveness (all I hear when this plays is the background noise that take place on Squid Games every time the masked dicks arrive), Wait for the Wintertime, Worms, Waves

2/5

Favourite songs: So What'Cha Want, The Maestro, Live at P.J.'s, Finger Lickin' Good, Pass the Mic, Stand Together, Pow, Professor Booty, Gratitude, Groove Holmes, In 3's

Least favourite songs: Lighten Up, The Biz Vs. The Nuge

4/5

Absolutely stellar album. Definately one that deserved to be featured in the original 1001. Thanks for the recommendation.

Favourite songs: Boogie Stop Shuffle, Better Get Hit in Your Soul, Bird Calls, Pussy Cat Dues

Least favourite songs: Self-Portrait in Three Colours

4/5

At what point does artistic expression just become garbage? Here. Right here. As a Canadian, I apologize that this trash exists. These idiots call themselves a "musical collective". What that means is that there are about 75 different musical styles taking place on this one record. All of them blow. Some less than others... But all it means is that this album has absolutely no cohesion. It's like I've just listened to a compilation album of 14 different artists... None of them good... This right here is why I hate indie. Trash like this is allowed to exist. It's a hard no from me.

Favourite songs: 7/4 (Shoreline), Fire Eye'd Boy

Least favourite songs: Ibi Dreams of Pavement (A Better Day), Major Label Debut, Finish Your Collapse and Stay for Breakfast, Windsurfing Nation, Handjobs for the Holidays, Bandwitch, It's All Gonna Break

1/5.....one point simply because the song title "Handjobs for the Holidays" is hilarious.
