The second Vampire Weekend album I've encountered on the post-list. This one is leaps and bounds better than the first one I reviewed (Modern Vampires in the City).

Favourite songs: Mary Boone, Ice Cream Piano, Capricorn, Gen-X Cops, The Surfer, Pravda

00's skate punk/pop punk. I feel like I wasn't as aware of this album as I was it's predecessors, "Half Hour of Power", "All Killer No Filler", and "Does This Look Infected?". The crazy thing is this album is right up my alley. Sounds very similar to another Canadian band, Billy Talent. I listened to a ton of Billy Talent in the early 00's, as well as those first 3 Sum 41 albums, but this one avoided my eye for some reason. I'm glad to have been introduced to it, even though it's 22 years later (fuck I'm old). Thanks OP for the recommendation! Glad to add it to the regular rotation.

Favourite songs: The Bitter End, No Reason, Angels With Dirty Faces, 88, Welcome to Hell, Open Your Eyes, Pieces, Some Say, I'm Not the One

Ffs..... Not more shoegaze....

Ever wonder what it would sound like if vocals were recorded in a cave (more mumbled than sang), and then was way overtopped by fuzz and distortion that has been turned up to 11, thereby rendering the vocals useless and the constant drone of music making you feel like you're trying to listen to music underwater? This is the album for you. This sounds exactly like My Bloody Valentine or The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Another fascinating thing that only those who like shoegaze would enjoy.... You have to have a forensics license to find the original "Complete Recordings" album. The Complete Recordings were never the complete recordings... They just called it that. But the rub is that 11 years later, they added 6 additional songs to the original list, and re-released it with an entirely different name.... It's now longer, and known as their self titled album. Who overwrites an albums existence as opposed to just releasing a deluxe edition or extended cut?

Fuck shoegaze.

Favourite songs: Throw Aggi Off the Bridge, Drown, Lazy Heart

Least favourite songs: idk, it all kinda ran together.... Pack You Up maybe??

I will admit, the style grew on me as the album went on, but still not something I'd ever listen to again.

I understand why this exists, but it is way out of my realm. This is Teenie Bop Pop. That checks out, as Rachel used to be in another pop group, S Club 7. These songs are mostly earworms, but I wonder how much staying power they really have? I feel like it may be something teenage girls would really love for a few years, then forget about as they grow older... But I think it will always have an audience of teenage girls to listen to it. It may not be revolutionary, or current, but it is catchy in its own right...

Absolutely phenomenal storytelling. I've known about Chris for years, but was only familiar with Don't Pay the Ferryman and A Spaceman Came Travelling. For some reason, I never explored his catalog any further than that. I'm glad this album was featured so I could listen to more of his stuff. I will be checking out even more of his stuff going forward. Thanks for the recommendation OP.

The mention of Chris De Burgh's name immediately made me think of a Trailer Park Boys episode where one of the main characters, Bubbles, was stealing shopping carts from the local mall. Gary, the head mall cop catches him in the act (not the first time) and is yelling at him about constantly getting phone calls from his superiors about stolen shopping carts. The exchange goes something like this:

Gary: You're not the one who gets the calls from head office night and day asking about stolen shopping carts!! You're not the one who waits to go to a Chris de Burgh concert for 3 and a half years, so I can go in and miss the encore of Don't Pay the Ferrymen because I'm on the phone in the foyer talking about stolen shopping carts!! I'm the one who gets those calls Bubbles! Not you, me! And you know what, I don't want to get those calls anymore...

Bubbles: Well why don't you fuckin turn your cell phone off Gary?

Gary: Don't fuck with me Bubbles!

These guys had that song that went huge in 2012 called We Are Young. That song is not on this album. This is their debut album, and I'm not familiar with any of these songs, at least by song title. This reminds me of Panic! At The Disco or 3OH!3.

People draw similarities to Queen or ELO. I can see that to a degree. Especially in the vocal harmonies achieved by the band, but not nearly as powerful as Freddie Mercury.

Favourite songs: Take Your Time (Coming Home), Benson Hedges, All the Pretty Girls, Barlights, Be Calm, I Wanna Be the One, Light a Roman Candle With Me

Least favourite songs: none. This album is great! I'm glad OP brought this album to my attention. Good stuff

Indie rock that heralds back to Iggy Pop or David Bowie. These guys definately studied the Bowie Playbook. You can definately hear that these guys must have been influenced heavily by him. Once i got used to their eccentricities, I really enjoyed this album. Thanks OP for the recommendation. I never would have discovered this without this generator. This is the stuff I love to find on here.

Favourite songs: Going Soft, Camel Crew, Long Hot Summer, Kutcher, Fishing, Here It Comes Again, Lander, Here's the Thing, The Races, Born Sugar, Stations of the Cross

Least favourite songs: none. This album is great!

This is the good modern country. Not that absolute garbage bro country or country pop. This is a call back to the roots of the genre to some degree. In the same vein as Reckless Kelly, Tyler Childers, or Whiskey Myers. A breath of fresh air. Beauty of an album. Thanks OP for the suggestion. Criminally low amounts of country music on this list.

Favourite songs: Kansas City Southern, 7 & 7, Every Girl, Long Hot Summer Day, Down on Washington, Whole Damn Town, Shreveport, 1968, Evangeline, Diamonds & Gasoline

Least favourite songs: None. This album is fantastic!
