Is the only reason this gets nominated is because of Rick Rubin? I'm not really into it, but it's listenable. I am a breathing time machine is a good line and Laundry Room is a legit song.

Stickshifts and Safetybelts is a sleeper hit for me. The Distance is still the best song by a mile. Italian Leather Sofa is also a good one.

boy talk about albums with baggage. ALW pushing the idea that great artists steal really up to its limits here. Also isn't the Phantom a groomer in this plot? how very 80s. And he kills the chief stagehand?! What the hell did he ever do?! I have various quibbles with this album, but as a cultural landmark it is impossible to deny its impact. BUT IT IS LOSING A STAR FOR BEING NEARLY 2 HOURS OF MY MORNING!

The soundtrack to a Gameboy Advance RPG that never got made. 1974, boy what a year for Germans and the synthesizer, and also drugs.

okay this is the second day albums have gotten wilder and more internet savvy. This takes all the early culture and just blends, transposes, rotates, and refracts it around in a sample barrage that is both disorienting and delightful. Its like if Girl Talk didn't give a shit about festivals and decided to live on Youtube instead. YOU CANNOT ESCAPE ALL OF THE SMASH MOUTH IN THIS ALBUM. This album really delivers a sacrilegious experience. The Sharpest Tool is the most challenging track so far. A fantastic art piece that went out with the expectation of making its audience hate the crap out of it. Very funny, very successful, fuck this album.

Oh man love to hear that this made it on the list. Metal fans get sooooooooo mad. Honestly their commercially friendly pop metal is still a fabulous mix and I have no shame in enjoying the crap out of it. Gimmie Chocolate is such a rad song. Doki Doki Morning is also solid. Headbangeeeeeerrrrr is great.

St. Alphonso's Pancake Breakfast is crazy. the most accessible Zappa work by far is still just weird. A pioneer for sure but a lot of his subversiveness sounds almost tame today, which I guess is the truest testament to winning the cultural battle.

Beatles cover? Knowing nothing about this guy going in its all Wikipedia research. So most famous for his covers, he has a great blues rock voice. Gives like a Dueling Piano Bar kinda vibe.

Oh yea I remember listening to lots of early 2000s prog metal in the day. This is a great album.

Really cool entrant in that sort of mid teens dream pop style, reminiscent of lo-fi MGMT and newer acts like Cosmo Shelldrake. very pleasant.

One of my dad's favorites for some odd ball reason. There was something in Seasons (Waiting On You) that just got to him. Great album, though maybe not my favorite of that era. Definitely a foreshadowing of how the future synth sounds would take over the pop scene.
