Reign in BloodSlayer

Rated 10/10

these guys are metal royalty. easy 5. the raining blood blood riff is absolutely iconic and the rest of the album is just as good

a little weird but a lot of fun. i went in knowing very little about captain beefheart but it was really enjoyable. it’s my understanding his other album on the list is a lot weirder and not as fun, im looking forward to it

this is our fourth paul simon album, the second in 3 days, and we still havent gotten an album from so many classic artists that i know have multiple on the list. i know its random but i wish there were a way to space out artists with multiple albums. now that im done complaining, this album is so much better than bookends. if we had more than a day between the two this couldve possibly gotten a 5 but i really didnt want to listen to s&g again so soon and it put me in a sour mood.

i was hopeful going in because i like some of paul simons solo work and the other s&g album we had was ok but this one just bored me. mrs robinson was the only track i actually enjoyed and that was probably just nostalgia. everything else ranged from forgettable to outright bad. if i had to say something nice, ill give it credit for being concise and wrapping up in under 30 minutes

i like a good concept album so i was intrigued going into this. after listening im no longer intrigued. they were way too focused on trying to tell the story that they forgot to make the songs good. the instrumentation is really good but the songs themselves are a slog to get through especially with a double albums worth

cool album, nothing mindblowing but good music. the album is a bit long and there were a few songs that probably couldve been cut to make the flow a little tighter

as far as movie scores go, this was really great. its well played and its well produced. having never seen the movie, listening to a movie score without context isn't as great. the last song in particular is really out of place but overall this was still really good
