If you look hard enough, Beggars Banquet can be called another psychedelic album in the same vain as their previous album, except the psychedelia here ain't sunshine and rainbows, but mescaline, booze and the devil standing in the doorway.

Rolling Stones finally found their groove with Beggars Banquet, incorporating American style blues and country rock. It's a total frenzy. Very ugly in every way imaginable, but also full of sadness at the same time. I guess that's the way the devil works around those parts.

This may just be their best album. I really like their earlier stuff, but this is when they started playing their more Blues / Country-esque sound and really caught on. It's solid as an album and really feels like their first commercially successful attempt at an album, rather than just some hit singles and filler stuffed together. They sound angry too, unlike anything beforehand really. My favorites on here are probably Jigsaw Puzzle with the twangy guitar and the angry Street Fighting Man.

3/5. The opener to this album “Sympathy for the Devil” is one of the best songs of the 60’s, sung from the perspective of the Devil himself as he recounts how he’s interfered in many historical events, backed by a great instrumental with those infectious background “woo woo’s.” Most of the rest of the album unfortunately doesn’t live up to the greatness of that song. There’s a few other highlights like “Street Fighting Man” or “Dear Doctor” but a lot of it is just kinda standard bluesy rock stuff. Theres also “Stray Cat Blues” which is about someone having sex with a 15 year old. Even if sung from the perspective of a character, it’s still a bit concerning considering the long history of early rock and roll musicians and that sort of thing. A few highlights for sure but I’ll admit I’ve never really been a big Stones kind of guy.

classic opener
not my favourite rolling stones album but actually quite pleasant
is it their most country one? or are they just more country than i remember?
bit boring, bit too mellow
it's okay

Rated 4/10

This album is just so boring. Every single track is extremely repetitive and gets stale after the first 30 seconds. There's certainly some great poetry on here, but there's also some pretty bad lyrics on this album. The shrieking lead guitar doesn't add either. It's just such a beige record that doesn't offer much. Tracks like Jigsaw Puzzle are quite nice, but the song structures are just so static. Yawner album.

Please allow me to introduce my review , I’m a man of wealth and taste.

I think the Stones are overrated and are a band that makes good singles not albums … can you guess my score ..

Pleases doctor followed by Parachute Woman kind of proves me right butSympathy is such a great song ( although I prefer Jane’s addictions version) , and most of the album is quite good.

Listened before? No

Familiar with the artist? Yes

Thoughts:
- I think Sympathy For The Devil is the only song I know here, and I like it a lot...
- Unfortunately there's not much else here that really interested me. The second track was good, but then it pretty much went downhill.
- This would be the first full Rolling Stones album I've listened to, and so far I don't think I've missed out by not knowing anything but the greatest hits.

Favorite track(s): Sympathy For The Devil

Impressions of old-time America. Not really a fan of the production/instrumentation choices here.

Rated 10/10

The best Rolling Stones album. They are at their best when they introduce a little bit of bluesy grit into the music, and they got it just right with this one.

Rated 10/10

The three albums that followed this are better, but that doesn't make this any less of a classic.

Rated 4/10

Coraz bardziej mnie męczą te klasyki rocka.

Rated 6/10

The Stones’s hits are usually pretty great while their deeper cuts don’t really offer much. And that’s definitely the case for Beggar’s Banquet. Sympathy for the Devil is a very good song, but the rest of the album is just kind of standard blues rock stuff. When they lean into just doing an acoustic guitar and straight blues, then it gets pretty good. But otherwise this album is kind of meh, not really a necessary one

Rated 4/10

Too much Rolling Stones here. I know that they are legends and they have every right to be on this list, but I don't like it. I give them a 2 just for their legacy

Rated 8/10

Pretty good, I liked this. 4/5

Rated 2/10

Two absolute, stone cold classics in Sympathy for the Devil and Street Fighting Man.

The rest, with one notable exception are pleasant enough, if not that memorable.

The exception is Stray Cat Blues - about a man lusting for sex with an under-age girl. "I BET YOUR MOTHER DONT KNOW YOU SCREAM LIKE THAT!" It ends with him inviting her friends around for under age group sex.

2 stars each for the classic songs PLUS a star for the rest. That's five stars.

MINUS (Oh, lets say) ALL the stars for the paedophilia.

Rated 8/10

Liked this more than the other Rolling Stones albums we’ve already had on here

You know your dad’s friend that owns at least 3 motorcycles and has vintage 60s posters all over the walls, has fuzzy dice in their 1970s Impala, has 12 neon light-up clocks on their wall, one for each hour of the day, hosts the town super bowl party every year, and always has nothing but beer in the fridge? This is the type of music he listens to. I mean, it’s not bad, but I don’t see myself ever listening to this again.

Rated 6/10

Hard to rate. Includes one of the greatest songs is all time. Also include ms a bunch of country drivel.

Sympathy for the Devil er simpelthen så stor en banger
