I honestly don't know what Kings Of Leon did to go from being cool to like to very not cool. A bit like Muse. Feels like people just decide one day. It's impressive that they made the same album FOUR times at least (Because Of The Times, this one, Come Around Sundown, Mechanical Bull) but they're all still worth listening to. Even though every track could be on any album and fit in, literally no musical development which possibly went on for longer but I haven't listened much past those (for 13 YEARS?!). Anyway, fuck it, I love this album. Great stuff. Probably not worthy of a 5 from me but it needs its average on here pushed up a bit.

In another context, like... an open mic or something, this would be something so bad you'd talk to your friends about it after. 'Remember that fucking weird guy who spoke those interminable songs about murder? Worst thing I've ever seen'. But here he is being revered. Don't get Nick Cave, never will.

Smooth Operator obviously a banger but unfortunately the rest is trying and failing to hit those heights. Ah well! an extra star because it was fine to have on.

Nice, and you can see where lots of people got their inspiration. Can't say I'll play it again though.

I really do like ABBA. But none of these songs as I recall made it on to ABBA Gold, and you can see why. But obviously that compilation has several lifetimes worth of bangers. And this, even if they're not at their best, is still perfectly pleasant with some good moments. Just not memorable, but more than partly because they set the bar so high for themselves. I won't write it off forever. Might give it another go once I've seen ABBA Voyage.
