I really liked this and had not heard it before. I'm a sucker for tight harmonies and garage-rock. Definitely will be queueing this up on my playlist for a bit and seeing if it sticks. 4.

A little over-produced for me. She Is in the top 5 female MC's of her era, and some of the lyrics have real promise, but I'm sticking in the 3+ range. I'm a fan, but nobody has that album on rotation today and not many are pointing to it as inspirational.

Nothin' like a little Isaac Hayes! Fun to listen to and will live right along side the legend and the movie. I think some of his other stuff is a better indication of his talents, but this put him on the map for a lot of people. 3+

I truly do get the hype... I just can't sell it as music. It's poetry - and great topical interesting stuff. I'm sure the style and feel and words have inspired millions. Just not really music to me. 2.

Interesting. Hard like some of the German and American hard core stuff at the time but I would argue with better musicality and interest. 3+

I mean, really great. You can hear the influences all the way back to the late 60's and they'll be playing this one for another 50 years. 4.

Hit harder than I remember. Was ready to give this a 2, but really likes it and will be reviewing more. 3+

I think I have to give this a 5. Not just the Marvin Gaye of his time, but also so soulful and human. I'm a sucker for passion and you can just hear it in his voice and though the tempo and feel of the music. Could be partially because he recently passed, but I really think this album will live on for a century or more.

Tainted Love will obviously always live in infamy and this album gets a 3 just for that... which is a good thing, because most of the rest of it feels like it was made in a garage. And he's just not a great singer... I know, I know... pioneers of British synth pop... blah blah blah... he's still off key and undrproduced.

I'm likely not the best judge of this one... Interesting and fine, but doesn't feel like a huge breakthrough in contemporary drums or electronic music. 2+?

I mean, is what it is. Somewhat iconic and influential, but just not that great, honestly. I'll generously give it a 3 just due to the use of alternative elements (a rock flute!) and it's longevity in the mainstream.

It grew on me through the album. Never been a huge fan, but I can understand the draw. Modern twist on very classic jazz and R&B with a little attitude. 3+

Solid. I'm not a huge house/EDM person, but this is definitely fun to listen to on occasion and shows a lot of variety and creativity. I honestly think the link to jazz and some other free-form tribal music is understated.
