Two 60s hippie acid rock albums in a row. Neat.

Didn’t love it, but it’s fine, I guess. It got dangerously close to country on a few occasions, but it was also kind of weird and experimental at times. Mostly just kind of late 60s hippie rock with a toe dipped in acid. It’s fine for what it is. 2.5

Loved it. As it’s a chill album that’s hard to categorize, dedicated to black excellence, it’s going to have a lower score than it deserves. But not from me.

I’m on a streak of fair to middling albums. This is one of them. I have affection for Yes because I greatly enjoy prog rock, but this album is a little underwhelming. Fine, perfectly OK, but nothing special.

I think it’s pretty good, though a bit long. I think I liked the first half of the album better than the second half, I feel like the second half just sounded a bit repetitive and it was harder for me to follow the storyline. Solid album, though, probably approaching 3.5.

Fine. Forgettable.

Super yacht rock-ish. Weirdly mellow.

Fine. Disappointingly boring, but perfectly fine background music. 2.5 stars.

It’s ok. I don’t really like the Beatles, but I don’t hate them either, I just don’t really connect to their “genius.” I’d say I feel the same about this album. It’s inoffensive, I suppose, and a little boring, and altogether too damned long, but it’s ok.

Quite good. Probably 3.5. I was going to give it a 4 but I think it’s maybe just a slight bit dated.

It’s ok, I guess. Not much to it, to be honest, I barely remember it and I just listened to it. Decent background music, I suppose?

The his was unexpectedly excellent. It’s a definite difference from American hip hop, and the beats were abrupt, hit hard, and keep the song poppin’. The writing was also excellent, painting a picture of British projects that aren’t, maybe, as culturally ubiquitous as the American ghetto, but the artists stories show that while we may be separated by thousands of miles and an ocean, we’re not so different.

Do you like the piano?

I appreciate that it has the decency of only being 37 minutes.

First off, Meg White is a dogshit drummer. people tie themselves in knots trying to explain why "ackshully" she's some sort of savant, but she's the most rudimentary, basic, first week, boring-ass "professional" drummer the world has ever seen. It's shocking.
Secondly, why in the unholy hell does this project need THREE White Stripes albums? Jack White is, it turns out, a terrific guitarist. But there is nothing in any of these albums that is groundbreaking, or overwhelmingly influential. So why? Why three?
So on to the actual album. It's fine. Like, totally fine. I *almost* gave it 2 stars because I'm so fucking annoyed that I have to listen to another White Stripes album when, apparently, there's not a single Deftones record on the list. But that wouldn't be fair, because this is the poster child for a completely banal, milquetoast, bland-ass blues-rock album. probably 2.5 stars, but I'm so frustrated I'm willing to give it 3 stars to mitigate my bias - but I'll tell you one more time, this project DOES NOT need three White Stripes albums.

What a weird ass album. It’s like what I imagine Liberace sounds like, or the What’s New Pussycat guy, but it’s oddly…not bad. Each song is like a little self-contained story, and some of these stories are WILD. Like the one where he compares dogs and women, or the one where he tells us how he got gonorrhea for the first (first!) time.
It’s a wild ride, and I don’t think I’ll ever listen to it again, but if I’m being honest, I kind of enjoyed my time with it. Solid three stars.

Masterpiece. I know of The Roots, and I even know a couple of their songs, but I never knew they could hit like this. I really missed out by skipping them in the early aughts. 4.5 stars.
This is 100% an album that deserves to be on this list. For me, however, it’s just a bit uneven. There are songs where the symphony absolutely enhances the song, then there are songs where it just sounds like there’s an orchestra kind of playing along. When it works, holy shit, it’s awesome. When it doesn’t, it’s just a little, I don’t know, boring? Underwhelming? Also, I’ve never been to a normal Metallica concert, but does James Hetfeld always bail out of the high notes? His voice was a bit monotone at times. Last complaint: it’s too damned long.
Ok, it sounds like I hated this, but that’s not quite the case. I’m going to give it 3 stars, and I wish I could give it 3.5, because it really is a very cool concept and a very cool album. There were a couple of times I got chills - and although I beey much love the Black album, I wouldn’t really call myself a Metallica fan.
Anyway, damn good album, if flawed, and definitely one to hear before you die.

Surprisingly good. I always thought of cars like a quirky little new wave band, but they’ve got some proper 70s rock songs going on here. I really enjoyed it.

I’m going to give it a 3, but just barely. It was fine, but kind of droney and way more boring than I expected. I got a Stooges album that blew me away, and this album had nowhere near the kind of energy I was expecting. It was kind of like a Lou Reed album. I don’t know. It was fine, I guess.
