Dub HousingPere Ubu

Rated 6/10

This is Pere Ubu's second album in this project. I feel the same way about it as I did about the first one. There are a few interesting pieces on the album. But overall it's too exhausting for me. Do I want to listen to it again? Rather no. Therefore 3/5

Wow, that's good. If you want it to be really punk, this is just the thing. It's actually too hard for me. The songs are just the right length. After a good slap in the face, they're already over and the next headbutt rolls in. 4/5

Otis Redding has an impressive voice. After an impressive start to the album, I came to the conclusion on further listening that the album didn't excite me. But then it was the hits and the surprising soul version of "I can't get no ..." that made me change my interim judgment. 4/5

DirtySonic Youth

Rated 4/10

I was already familiar with the band's name. I've heard some of their songs on various compilations. This album is probably the first one by the band that I've listened to almost in its entirety. It was too exhausting for me. I didn't like it. I don't think I'll listen to it again. 2/5

Christina Aguilera•1ooks good and has a great voice. She can certainly sing great jazz and soul. But this album is too poppy for me to really like it. There are 2-3 very good tracks on it that I will listen to again. But most of the rest of the album is repetitive and doesn't deliver anything new or surprising. This makes the album far too long. It's like a novel where the author is paid by the word count. What a pity. The good stuff gets lost in the repetition. 3/5

I keep confusing these Justins {Bieber|Timberlake}. I had fond memories of just one song of Justin Timberlake and was excited about the album. Well, what I heard was very, very pleasant pop music. Too boring. You can hear the musical similarities to his former band. About as exciting as a Beyoncé album. I'll do with this album as announced in the last song: Never Again. 3/5

Hip hop is not music. And from Kanye West to boot. I have no desire to listen to shit from a black Nazi. Adidas was right to finally part ways with him. I won't even enter into a liaison with him. That may be prejudiced. But sometimes I don't feel like sniffing at every pile, only to realize that it's shit after all. There's only one mandatory star in the drawer where Kanye West is. 1/5

And once again I fell for it. I mistook Goldfrapp for another band with a similar name. So my expectations of the album were low. I'd seen the cover before, probably heard the CD once, but had no concrete memory of the music. When I heard the first few notes, I realized the mistake I mentioned at the beginning. I really liked this album. I like the style and think the sound is cool. The album won't be one of my top albums, but it comes close. 4/5

MurmurR.E.M.

Rated 6/10

R.E.M. is a remarkable band. There are also many songs by the band that I really like. I wasn't particularly impressed by this album. It was ok, but nothing more. It's not a long-lost gem. 3/5

Since I've been listening to more country music than I usually do as part of the project, and to albums that I liked surprisingly well, I was looking forward to this album. John Prine plays good, unagitated music. I could listen to it well. But it didn't excite me. If I come across it again, I won't turn it off. But I won't go looking for it either. 3/5

DookieGreen Day

Rated 6/10

This is Green Day's second album for me in this project. Unfortunately, it didn't fulfill my perhaps too high expectations. I liked this kind of American punk better from other bands. Too bad. 3/5

The music is a bit annoying at times. Overall, however, I found the album surprisingly interesting. I would like to give it 4 stars. But if I apply the criterion of whether I would like to listen to it again, I have to refrain from doing so. It's a bit too exhausting. 3/5

I've never heard of this singer or this album. Well, the voice isn't bad, the music is pleasant, but the whole thing is so boring that I won't listen to it again. If I hadn't heard this album, I wouldn't have missed anything. 3/5

I've known Earth Wind & Fire since I was a teenager. I couldn't appreciate their music back then. I didn't know what to do with funk and soul. That has since changed. The album I'm listening to now for the first time is pretty good. I find the ubiquitous disco sound of the time a little annoying. There are also a few very strong tracks on the album. I'll listen to it again. 4/5

It is possible that the music was groundbreaking at the time and accelerated or anticipated developments. Perhaps this is why the album is rightly on the list, if this is supposed to be a kind of anthology. A performance by such a band at a concert could still be a lot of fun. Beyond that, I found the album difficult to listen to and probably won't do so again. 3/5

I couldn't really get into the music. It's not bad, but I don't feel compelled to listen to it again. The initial boredom developed into mild annoyance as the album progressed. 3/5

New WaveThe Auteurs

Rated 8/10

I had never heard of the album or the band. After reading the reviews, I was skeptical about what to expect. But I really liked the album. I'll definitely listen to it again and get to know the band a bit more. 4/5

I wasn't familiar with Dr. John and Gris-Gris until now. After three tracks, I stopped listening to the album. It's not my thing, not my kind of music. It got on my nerves. 2/5
