A great album. It's hard to believe that the band managed to create such a monumental work with their first album. It's really easy for me to award stars here. 5/5

After reading the Wikipedia article about the band and the album, I was curious. Well, you can hear the echoes of punk. I can't recognize a really big development like with other post-punk bands. I didn't find the album annoying but boring. There wasn't a track that made me sit up and take notice and that I would have wanted to listen to again. 3/5

I have never heard of Richard Hawley before. I was excited about the album when I read the description. It was too sweet and schmaltzy for me. It reminded me a little of Elvis' crooning (Presley or Costello, doesn't matter). Altogether boring. 3/5

Phew, I was in the geothic scene myself for a while. That's when I heard the name of the band. I never consciously listened to them. I don't think I've missed much. The album sounds pretty flat and seems boring. But that's how I felt about the music of some of the bands I liked listening to back then. 3/5

In another review I read the term the Icelandic B-52s. I think that's quite fitting. I quite liked the music. But I probably won't listen to it again so soon. 3/5

I remember when the album came out. It was very popular among my friends. And I loved it too. Rarely before have I heard such a powerful female voice. Unfortunately, especially in the first track, there are a couple of squeaks that are vaguely reminiscent of yodeling. Perhaps this was a must at the time, dictated by Michael Jackson, who does it unbearably often. Anyway, a great album, nice to have heard it again. (And whenever I hear Alanis Morisette I think of her performance as God in the movie Dogma. God has spoken) 5/5

An interesting album. I find the idea of composing film music for a movie that doesn't exist funny. Apparently Barry Adamson has often made this joke. It was good to have heard this album. But I probably won't be doing it again any time soon. 3/5

I hadn't heard of Janelle Monáe and this album before. And so I was looking forward to a previously unknown gem from the soul and RnB genre. Well, the album wasn't bad, but it didn't excite me. I found it a bit boring. 3/5

I've never heard of Drive Like Yehu or the album Yank Crime. It was interesting, but also a bit exhausting. At some points, the music and voice reminded me of Nirvana and Kurt Cobain, but in the more nerve-wracking phases. I enjoyed it, but it's a bit too heavy for everyday life. 3/5

I've always enjoyed listening to Pulp. However, I wasn't familiar with the album. I particularly enjoyed the beginning. I thought it was going to be one of the new top favorites. Unfortunately, the mood dimmed a little as the album progressed. Perhaps it was also due to the computer problems I had to deal with on the side. 4/5

Hip Hip. That is and remains a kind of unmusic. Listened to three tracks, the usual shouting. Only "It Was a Good Day" seemed to contain melody. But then I didn't feel like it anymore. 1/5

A very interesting album. For long stretches, I also liked it very much. However, there were also more difficult parts that I didn't get on with so well. The album is certainly very good, but I probably won't listen to it again soon. 3/5

How nice that the gems of Krautrock appear in this list from time to time. I'm always amazed by the innovative power that this German music scene had back then. Unfortunately, I was still too young at the time to really appreciate this music and immerse myself in it. I only found this access later. The album is great and I enjoyed listening to it. But it's not one of my favorites of the genre. 4/5

I've never heard of this noise rock before. An interesting experience. In the end, however, I found the music a bit too exhausting. I probably won't listen to the album again. Nevertheless, it's good to see music like this on the list. 3/5

I grew up with pop like that. I thought it was the style of the time. If I heard that too, then it was a sin of my youth. When I listened to it again, I was surprised. I knew many of the tracks on the album and didn't just like them for nostalgic reasons. I certainly won't listen to Culure Club more often, but it was interesting again. 4/5

Good old 80s rock. The Cult was probably not cult for me. I haven't heard anything from them yet. I did enjoy the album a bit. However, there are many other albums by many other bands that are better in my opinion and that I prefer to listen to. 3/5

The album sounds rough and dirty. It was fun. However, I won't be listening to it again any time soon. 3/5
