This is some 15 years after his cultural peak so I expected it to be some late career renaissance. Not really the case though, it kind of sounds exactly the same as all the other Elvis Costello albums on here. It's just another album of exactly what you'd expect with him. Worthwile inclusion? Not really, but at least all my Elvis Costello albums are done now. Sure is a lot that's worse that you could listen to.

Another Beatles album, what more can I say. They're all good really, this one a bit less than others. Short runtime, some good and some a bit forgettable. Might be my least listened to Beatles album, but it was good enough to revisit.

Very much a product of it's time. Feels right at home in the sophisti-pop kind of music genre. When Love Breaks Down was a really good song, easily one I'll continue to listen to. The rest is fine as well but sorta filler in comparison. That said, good album to listen to. It goes for a certain vibe and just manages to keep that steady the entire runtime.

Country album. Quite a standard one with an aged singer. Guess Country albums don’t need to be stand out to be enjoyable, but it helps. I can see myself enjoying this more if given more time with it.

Not as good as their other album, but still quite a fun album to listen to. One of the first Pop albums to have this weird division of a few short songs on one side and a giant epic on the other side. The short songs are fine enough, but like with these albums they are not really the important part. Some great songs on there though. The jam is quite good, mixes Jazz well with the Pop trends of the time. Not the best piece as music but a good enough showoff piece.

Under Construction feels like a fitting album name, the beats almost feel sparse at times. The 2000's in Hip Hop were all about bombast with movements like Bling and Crunk. Not much of that on here. Putting that aside, the album is fine. Some big names collaborating on here, not particularily interesting stuff to me still. Guess I can't put it aside, not really for me.

Fine and all, just not really for me. This slow moving Trip Hop thing isn't really my thing and probably won't ever be. There's a lot of interesting touches here and it does help to pay attention to it. Just too slow to really bring it to my attention however.

Brimful Of Asha unlocked some ancient song memories that I hadn’t heard in over a decade, listening to the original version was a welcome surprise. The rest of the album isn’t all too interesting in my opinion. Had some nice moments but overall there was a lot of seemingly meaningless noodling and instrumentals on here that ruined the flow a bit. It’s not a bad album otherwise, but nothing too special.

Pitchfork loves to drool over this one. It's fine and all, not really more than that. Like an album of the weaker Hole songs. Some interesting stuff on here, but it's all very par for the course for 90's Alternative music. I do like her voice, I like some of the instrumentation on here, but I don't really get grabbed by the lyrics and the whole thing just doesn't do that much for me.

Propa rave cunt. Really cool beats and some crazy going songs. Wish I got to discover this a little sooner because it's great music for driving like a retard. My car liked this music so much that it broke down right after the album was over.

I can stomach a lot of Country, but this was a bit too corny for me. The songs are all kind of generic Country to me. Three artists at not quite the prime of their career at work. It's cool that these artists all came together to work on an album, but I don't really see the added value in all of them on here. They don't really go all out on harmonies, might as well be a compilation album of the lot of them.

GoldRyan Adams

Rated 6/10

This was a lot better than his awful first album on here, and way better than the few songs I listened off his more recent albums. There is an actual bit of energy on here at times, rather than Ryan Adams just sounding mopey all the time. It's not perfect though. I felt the runtime was a bit long, some songs dragged on for a bit and the parts I disliked in his other works aren't fully gone here. Still, it's a decent Alternative Americana album from the turn of the century.

I really enjoy the Yardbirds, but this is one of the albums I never really got to grips with. I think Eric Clapton was a much better fit for the Yardbirds and made more interesting music with them. Jeff Beck is a great musician in his own right, but he doesn't really experiment like on his own works. Over Under Sideways Down has one of the best guitar riffs of the year, but outside of that I struggle to find many memorable moments here. There are better Yardbirds albums and better Blues Rock albums from this period.

One of my favorite more modern country albums. I love Lucinda Williams here southern sounding accent on here. The songs have nice meaning to them and are all pleasant to listen to. It's well made and well paced too. These songs keep getting stuck in my head and it's always a different song that does rounds in my head. Quality songwriter.

The BandThe Band

Rated 10/10

Classic and timeless masterpiece. These songs never seem to age, they're still as good as ever 55 years on. The Band decided to pivot from the common Psychedelic and Hard Rock from that era and basically decided what a large part of the 70's would sound like. Beautiful singing here and the interplay between the bandmates is great. It's just one of those evergreen records.

What a strange album this is. It's Hip Hop, all the elements are there with the Rapping and the Radio fragments and the incredibly groovy basslines. It comes from a completely different place than the American Hip Hop though. It's much more African influenced and seems to borrow a lot from the Post Punk alternative scene as well. It really works. It's familiar to the ear but at the same time a completely different side path that hasn't really been matched since. Is it even music? Not really, songs are barely a thing and there's just a big garble of stitched together elements. It's very creative, and it's fun.

It's completely fine, not really more or less than that. There's a bunch of different sounds on this album which makes the 15 song tracklist not feel all that long. I found Elvis Costello's voice to sound a bit like the Zombies at times. Not really much more to add to my 5th Elvis Costello album I've listened to so far.

Blues had a sort of revival in the 1980's and this was made at the tail end of said revival. It's a fine album, but I feel John Lee Hooker's style clashes with the shiny modern production. The Healer is a good song, but the rest of the album is kind of forgettable. Still a decent album, bit of a weird inclusion.

Shocked to see this has such a low rating, I quite enjoyed it. It doesn't really ever live up the the Disco groove of the first track though. It's a bit Disco, bit New Wave, bit of Pop. Just everything that was going on at the time, like watered down Talking Heads. Did it ever move the needle? No. It's just a decent album of its era that is worthwile enough to at least listen to once, if not more times.

I can definitely see why it has such a low average rating. It's hard to love, even for someone who can stomach a lot of goofy 60's Psychedelia. I can't bring myself to dislike it all that much. It does a good job at setting an atmosphere. Said atmosphere is a kooky D&D tavern though. Full of weird shit and strange sounding instruments. Interesting inclusion, but not for me.
