What a brilliant album. A lot of pop sensibility here, it's all very catchy but still beautiful and holds artistic merit. A double album with a ton of long songs that doesn't overstay its welcome. Every time I listen to it I wonder why I don't really listen to more Elton John.

Don't really see what other people see in this one. It's hypnotic for sure and really novel for the time, but it doesn't really differ that much from other Classical Hindi albums and I find it kind of boring. The entire piece gets to be a bit weary and tiresome. Ravi Shankar does more interesting stuff on his albums and preceeded this album by a decade or so. The fake out with the streaming version of this album done by other people is a big fuck you move as well.

A classic. Not as good as their other album on here though. I feel they improved on these songs after and they sound really complete in their later live work. Still a very enjoyable album. The Weight has to be one of the best songs of all time.

Really cool album, the combination of Brian Eno and David Byrne works really well. I like the world music influence on here a lot, from Indian to Arabic to African. The relatively sparse mixing works well too, it’s not too busy of an album even with all the different influences. If I had to critique it, I suppose it doesn’t really go anywhere. The songs are atypical and don’t really feel like they could be hit singles.

Not really my thing, but pretty good. It’s very reminiscent of this kind of melancholic but pretty pop of the late 90’s and 2000’s. It kind of scratches an itch where I don’t really ache. Likeable and worthwile to listen to but probably not something I’ll revisit. The songs don’t really distinguish themselves from one another all that much.

Starts off pretty good, like some sort of Shoegaze band. That’s about as good as it gets though. The rest of the album either sounds like somewhat pleasant but drawn out Shoegaze or the “Come down” boredom the calmer songs on here bring. The last 2 songs are more of a sanity test than they are actual pieces of music and really make me consider giving this a bottom rating. The rest of the album is ok while some stuff is awful.

I really enjoyed the other The The The The The The The album on this list, this one was a bit dissapointed. It wasn't bad by any means, but it didn't really pull me in and seemed to have less hit power than the other one. It's still good 80's pop, well made without being one of those cheesy sophisti-pop acts. Probably just needs another listen, into the back of the backlog it goes.

It’s the bloody Beatles, again. Calling it a good album is kicking at an open door. The concept album aspect was more noticable for me this time around. The album starts and almost ends with the Sgt Peppers band, but the smooth transitions between songs and the way they follow each other really well are worth a mention too. Album cover is great too. At times it does feel like there’s a few too many granny Paul songs on here, but it’s the bloody Beatles aye.

It’s made its mark on music and is still fun to listen to today. A number of great songs here that I play somewhat regularly. It’s a bit simple for me at times though. I get that it’s part of the appeal but it does sound like cave man boogie rock at times. Fun, but some of the musical choices don’t always hit right. Still some banging riffs and beats and songs and really good.

Recognised Alex Turners voice right away. It was a good album, never a moment I didn't enjoy it. That said, I did kind of miss a spark. It's all solid but not really making me long for more. If only it just had 1 real enjoyable hit on it or something.

Pet Sounds wasn't a sudden spike in talent and songcraft for the Beach Boys, it was a gradual improvement over previous albums. This already has the rich textures of Pet Sounds present on some of the songs. It still has the simpler songwriting about cars and girls and surfing present though and a number of the songs here don't feel all that worthwile. The fucking bull session with daddy bonus track was really wack and out of place too.

A bit of a middling dud. There's some good songs on here, but it's a product of its time and struggles with being a good all-round album. The runtime is on the short side, even for its time and even then there's a few filler esque clown songs. That said, I'm a sucker for this era of psychedelic music. There is something to be said for the novelty factor of a Toonerville Trolley and they weren't afraid to try something. The listening is quite varied for what it is. Lands somewhere in the middle for me.

It sure is an album with music on it, one of the albums of all time, even. Wholly immemorable, not really all that bad though. The songs were a bit varied but they were also too lengthy for how enjoyable they were to listen to. Can't really groove to it like I could with the other Orbital album.

Steely Dan is always great. So well crafted, great line up of musicians and lovely songs they were able to create here. There's one goofy ahh song in the middle but that doesn't really ruin my enjoyment of the album. Honestly kind of interchangable with other Steely Dan albums but I really enjoy all of them.

It has kind of been overtaken by time. It sounds a bit generic nowadays but that's because it was really influential. Don't know what to say about it but I like it.

It's a love letter to the oldschool woman fronted Country that was popular some 20-30 years before this album came out. I think it's an interesting and pleasant era of music, but I don't think this album adds much to it. Covers are a bit uncreative and unlike the Cowboy Junkies, K.D. Lang doesn't really manage to thread the line between 80's folky and 80's kitsch. It doesn't sound very enjoyable to me, it's really boring and also lame.

OdelayBeck

Rated 6/10

Starts off really good but it gradually gets to be weirder and weirder. I did like all of the samples and throwbacks Beck used here, the songs he sampled are very different yet work in this scenario as well. It definitely had it's moments but a number of the songs on here made me really wanna turn it off.

Better than you’d expect Coldplay to be. They are Radiohead from Temu even though I don’t like regular Radiohead much to begin with. The more pop edge makes it a bit more enjoyable to listen for me. The album kind of switches between melancholic, pleasant and boring. Sometimes leans too much in the boring direction but it’s good enough to not hate.

This album is really glazed, not my thing personally but I can see how someone would enjoy this. You can really get lost in this album, kind of feels like you're in one of those documentaries about glaciers or something. The made up singing adds an otherwordly element to this album as well. May need to relisten, but it was a bit of a sleep inducer at times and the runtime is beefy.
