I listened to the original track listing, first 10 tracks - not all the extra alt/demo bloat.

Unfortunately, it didn't make it any better, it's far too melodramatic. I'm sure there are better albums that represent the a similar space and time.

Anecdotally, recorded live as "no studio would have been capable of capturing [MC5's] sheer energy, excitement, and danger".

Unfortunately the audio quality dampens most of that energy. Like most of the "live" albums on the 1001 list, I guess you had to be there.

I only found out recently that the "Right Here, Right Now" sample quote is Angela Bassett in "Strange Days".

Overhyped, overplayed, yup, but there's way too much nostalgia with this album that I couldn't give it anything less than a 5.

After the opening track, I was expecting more of the same... how wrong I was. Turned out to go in many different directions, genres and theatrics.

Overrated.

I do like the first few opening tracks, but then the album quickly drifts up it's own arse. Nico's droney vocals annoy me. The experimentation goes bonkers. Lou Reed carries what he can.

Can't help but think Andy Warhol's peelable banana artwork concept gave the perception of greater musical value than it actually has.

I don't hate it, I just don't see it as the masterpiece it's often lauded to be.

Catching up with my unrated albums. I was sure that I'd listened to this at the time (at least my YouTube history tells me so), but I forgot to review it.

I've since found another version of the album on Spotify. Although the track listing is different, but it is the original recording/artists, (unlike the son's remake).

I enjoyed the soundscape of life in the valley.

Just another ex-1001 album!™

After heavily disliking "To Pimp A Butterfly", much to the shock of one of my mates, I said I'd give Kendrick Lamar another try.

The first half of the album felt like "Blah, blah, bitches, bitches. Where my motherfuckin' dominoes at?" Urgh!

The second half got better, but still felt mostly drug-fuelled gangster cliche tosh.

I tried, but nope!

Different and refreshing from most the albums on the 1001 list. I may also have developed a soft spot for M.I.A. since I lived in Sri Lanka for a while during the civil war years.

Just to think, this was released a year after their "Greatest Hits" album. So much gold on this album. Sure there are a few droney cheesy ballads, but the production quality is always sky high, it's a class act!

You know, I knew this would be decent, but I wasn't expecting to be drawn in as much as I was, great album!

Well, that, happened!

There are times when we may ask ourselves, can you separate the art from the artist... in this case, the art is the artist! We're being thrown into the abyss of Spence's mental state, and after a maddening hour, I never want to go back there.

Sometimes this list feels like 1001 Longest Albums... yet another double album!

I mostly liked it, the pop tunes are fun, but could have been much much shorter.
