Much better than i remember.

Certainly some BAD's here, yes, that's my new term for a "BAD" song, created by me.

But, anyways the album!

THE ALBUM

Lucifer tries so hard to be the title track from I Robot and fails.

You Lie Down With Dogs is actually pretty good, but doesn't even get close to anything from their first two and the next album.

I'd Rather Be A Man is so forgettable. I just finished the album and i barely remember the song.

You Won't Be There is probably their most underrated song. Only song to compare to anything else by APP on the album. Love this song and is the only thing the album's worth.

Winding Me Up i'm so conflicted about. The transition at the end of YWBT into this is a really good transition (you don't even notice it), i just don't like the winding transition.
The rest of the song is good, just corny (https://www.albumoftheyear.org/user/lilpoopydukey/album/42144-eve/).

Damned If I Do is just a better version of IRBAM. Less forgettable (but still is), and a little more catchy.

THE OTHER 3

These 3 are why the album score gets dragged down.

Don't Hold Back i couldn't tell you a line from it's so forgettable.

Secret Garden is the worst because... Well, i would tell you why. IF I REMEMBERED THE SONG.

If I Could Change Your Mind is easily the best of THE OTHER 3 of Eve, but it isn't better than anything in the beginning (pun intended) besides IRBAM.

NEED TO HEAR RATING: HEAR

Best song: You Won't Be There
Worst song: Secret Garden
Underrated: You Lie Down With Dogs

Every single song on this album is good. That is no joke, literally.

Even the worst on the album are better than 95% of every other bit of music ever. My personal least favorite Misty Mountain Hop is still amazing and that's the WORST. You literally need to hear this album. I instantly got converted from an LZ hater to LZ lover from this and their debut.

Obviously the centerpiece is Stairway To Heaven, but in my opinon it isn't. In my opinion it's When The Levee Breaks for just being one of the BEST blues songs ever with such good music just like all led zepp songs.

I will also have a rating scale by rating it by how much you should hear it.

LOVE IT!

I think it's a lil overrated but it's great.

Side A

I loved The Song Remains The Same, i just feel when i was listening to it, it was so heavy i barely could comprehend what was happening, nice song tho.

HOTTAKE: The Rain Song is amazing and all, BUT THE LED ZEPPELIN COMMUNITY HYPES IT (ZO)SO MUCH YOU'D THINK IT'S BETTER THAN STAIRWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!... but it's great.

Now Over The Hills And Far Away is my JAM. This song is so good it brought up the album score by 0.7.865654 for me. But there's better...

But it is... Not The Crunge. When i was listening to The Crunge, i was like "I like this, very overhated". But now i don't remember anything at all about it except it was a LZ song...

Side B

... But it is the exact same case with Dancing Days, so just read The Crunge's review again for this one.

This is a great live album, one of KC's best. And maybe even one of them ever

Amazing. The best word to describe this album is amazing.
Fantastic. The best word to describe this album is fantastic.
9.2/10. The best number to describe this album is 9.2/10.

I love it, it's got the Asbury Park jam on here which is amazing, Easy Money's amazing, 21CSM's perfect, Larks' amazing, the whole thing is amazing.

I'm not going to go into 21CSM because it's my favorite because it's 21CSM. What i will go into depth in is Larks' on here.

It's so heavy and dark on here, it physically feels like a black cloud looming over a small poor town. It's coming and you know it, then it explodes with every instrument and it's great. You won't understand this praise until you hear it.

It's so amazing, please listen, don't write off live albums because their live.

Strange album.

The Left Side is great. Sounds just like Beat and i LOVED Beat. It's that Right Side though...

None of the industrial rock stuff on the right side click with me. Larks' 3 is the only one i like on there and it's the only one that isn't industrial, because it's not the stuff i like.

Nuages was actually better than i remember. Title track PERFECTION. Man With An Open Heart BANGER. Sleepless BANGER. Model Man BANGER. Right Side MID.

Ok, wow, this is one hell of a box set.

This thing is HUGE. 4 discs, 4.5 hours. That's crazy! Now each disc.

Disc 1 is pretty normal, seems like a normal KC concert, and like normal KC, it's normally great! Rating: 88

Disc 2 is weird. Sharks' Lungs in Lemsip, anybody? Tight Scrummy? Easy money It Is for You but Not for Us? THEY DO PEACE FROM POSEIDON. that's everything right there. oh yeah, they also do CAT FOOD. Rating: 89

Disc 3 is half improvs and original song and half actual classic KC songs. It's the most interesting, but not my favorite. BARTLEY BUTSFORD?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!!?!?!??!?!?! Rating: 86

Disc 4 is my least favorite, but still great. Not much to say about this one as it's quite normal like disc 1. Rating: 84

Now you may be wondering why i would give it a 93 when my highest rating for any of the discs was 89. Well it's because i rate albums just based on how nice the experience is, and this was an amazing experience.

NEED TO HEAR RATING: DEFINITELY HEAR.

wow

This album takes the heavy songs, and makes them HEAVIER. I mean listen to 21st Century Schizoid Man, it's so insanely heavy, and one of the first versions in a while where they actually do the vocal effects live. And i love it. Starless, One More Red Nightmare, Epitaph, The Court Of The Crimson King, they're all so good here.

I don't know how someone couldn't love this album. Though only disc 3 is considered to have the classics, disc 2 has a LOT of classics, like Pictures Of A City, Easy Money, and Sailor's Tale.

Disc 1 is great too, with making the THRAK, ConstruKction, and Power To Believe tracks truly good. I didn't care for those 3 that much, but this album really made me like the stuff from them.

Anyways, this album is one of KC's best albums and an amazing closer to their discography.

It's good, but The Great Deceiver and Epitaph completely overtakes it

Shockingly i liked Schizoid Men, the thing is that Spotify threw me off with the track listing.

First off, they don't have the 49 second COTCK, so i couldn't rate that, and also they have the Schizoid Men track listing wrong. Because the short 21st Century Schizoid Man that opens the second disc is listed as Schizoid Men Edit 1, even though here on RYM it is listed as 21st Century Schizoid Man. So every time i would listen to one, i would actually be one behind, if it was Schizoid Men 8 on Spotify, It was actually Schizoid Men 7, and also the final Schizoid Men 10 that's 12 minutes long was edited down into 2 parts (11 and 12).

Now the actual album. The album is literally titled "Ladies Of The Road" and not a single performance of the song, which is actually good because that song is awful. The version of Pictures Of A City on here i don't like at all. I don't like Get Thy Bearings just as much as on Epitaph, but what this album has is all the amazing versions of the songs from Islands.

The first Islands song on the album is The Letters, which is already one of my favorites from the original, but it is SO MUCH BETTER HERE. I LOVE this version of Formentera Lady and Sailor's Tale especially, because at least i like the original Formentera Lady, i don't like the OG Sailor's Tale, but i love it here.

And then there's the other stuff, Groon, and Cirkus. Cirkus is much slower and i don't know i like it more or less, but it's still good either way, Groon is Groon, a bonus track that adds nothing.

This album is good, but i would recommend other KC live albums more, like Nightwatch specifically.

I enjoy this album.

The thing is, it's just another King Crimson live album. We've got literally hundreds of those already, so this is just another thing to throw in the pile. Except it's

This album is crazy long. 3 hours for a lot of the stuff to be filler is insane. I like some of the picks, but none of the stuff from the metal trilogy is gonna beat an album with material from Lark's, Bible Black, Court, and Red. The Great Deceiver was just one more hour long than this. If i was gonna waste my limited lifetime on an amazing 4 hour box set, or a 3 hour filler-ific box set, i'm going with the 4 hour amazing one so i can waste my time whilst having fun listening to it.

So overall this album is enjoyable, but would be if it was just 2 discs and all the improvs were cut.

KC's Masterpiece? Not THE but one of theirs.

For each song when i was listening to it, i wrote one word for each song to reflect how i felt about/during the song.

Side A

Elephant Talk is goofy and i love it, of course i'm not gonna say this matches I Talk To The Wind but i like it.
The one word i wrote for Elephant Talk was Funny.

Frame By Frame is amazing. One of KC's best songs even, one of the best of the 80's era, one of the best EVER.
The one word i wrote for Frame By Frame was Abstract.

Matte Kudasai is a beautiful song. The imagery in the lyrics are amazing, 2nd best on the album.
The one word i wrote for Matte Kudasai was Pretty.

Indiscipline is just WEIRRRRD. The instrumentals are great then out of nowhere I REPEAT MYSELF WHEN UNDER STRESS I REPEAT MYSELF WHEN UNDER STRESS I REPEAT MYSELF WHEN UNDER STRESS I REPEAT MYSELF WHEN UNDER STRESS I REPEAT.
The one word i wrote for Indiscipline was Weird.

HEAT IN THE JUNGLE ST-good song
The one word i wrote for Thela Hun Ginjeet was Anagram.

The Sheltering Sky is super okay. It is The Talking Drum from Larks on here, it's more interesting than Talking Drum, but that's not saying much.
The one word i wrote for The Sheltering Sky was Mid.

Discipline used to be one of my favorites on the album, now i think it's unecessary.

WHY DIDN'T I LOVE THIS!?!?!?!

Yeah, this album is amazing. AND I'M HERE TO TELL YOU THE GOOD, BAD, AND THE CRINGE!

The A Side is much better than The B Side, because yes, Requiem & Neurotica are great, but there's also Two Hands & The Howler, the former being the worse.

Side A

Neal And Jack And Me is really good, 2nd best on the album.

Heartbeat is really catchy, much better than i remember.

Satori In Tangier is a new wave instrumental, yeah, that's all it is.

Waiting Man is actually really good and i can't believe i wrote it off so much before.

Side B

Neurotica is SO GOOD. yeah.

Two Hands is so cringe and makes me feel weird, i do not like this one, the music redeems it though.

The Howler is overhated... but it's still 2nd worst.

Requiem & Neurotica redeem the B Side, Requiem is slow, but it's a great instrumental.

Billy Joel Royal did it again, by not just putting out one of his best albums, or even his best live album. Instead, one of the best live albums... Ever.

Wow, if you want to hear this album, do not just listen to the record, watch the music videos on youtube along with it, it makes it so much better.

Maybe thats the reason why i liked it so much, because everybody is talking about the record itself's post production, but for now this is an absolutely amazing concert.

Like, Wow. All I can really say.

I really don't have much to say but, wow. This album is insanely underrated. This is the reason that if i even remotely like a singer (not for this case) i always listen to all their albums because there's always hidden gems.

If i had stayed in my lane and only listened to "Billy Joel's Greatest Hits Volumes 1 & 2" I would never heard absolute BANGERS like Angry Young Man, Everybody Loves You Now, Miami 2017, The full length Just the Way You Are, I've Loved These Days, And the list goes on.

I don't have much to say but how this album shocked me with it's quality, This is the first album to surprise me a lot since "Blood on the Tracks" back in late May.

I just have to say, Give it a listen. Even if you don't like All You wanna do is Dance, You still might... If you haven't heard Summer, Highland Falls, You haven't lived!

It's fine.

BUT THE PRODUCTION EUGH OH THE AWFUL CORNY CHEESY OH SOOO CHEESY 80's SYNTHS EUGH OH OH AHHHHHHHH

But on a more serious note, The production is plain awful, Ray Charles is awful, the album is... Mid? Yeah, even with all that the album is mid, why? Because under all that gloss, i know what is in there... A Billy Joel album. yeah thats it there is a billy joel in it.

There may be one Billy Joel album in it, but it is one hell of a mid Billy Joel album. Even the best doesn't hold a candle to near anything on The Stranger.

Billy make a good album again...

NEED TO HEAR RATING: MID HEAR

Underrated Overhated Album that has more than one good song.

Ok, so maybe The Entertainer is the only GREAT song, That shouldn't demean very good songs like The Great Suburban Showdown or Los Angelenos.

Everything is good on this album, Root Beer Rag is a very well played instrumental, Same with The Mexican Connection but to a lesser extent. Souvenir is very short but is just a plain good song, and Last of the Big Time Spenders is just underrated.

I don't have much to say, like with all albums, except listen to the album!!!

Rated 8/10

Fun, But kind of lacking outside the lead songs.

I think this is a great album with the worst songs even being at the good level of quality, but the problem is that that's what most of the songs sit at, just good.

But don't get me wrong. Captain Jack, Piano Man, and The Ballad of Billy the Kid are among his best. But again, it's just those.

Give it a listen, and if you like it more than me, and even love it, that's great! Because i do too, just too many "lesser" songs on it.

This album has one of the best sounds of any album EVER.

50's Rock and Roll and 60's Doo-Wop are the inspiration for this album, and it's suits Billy very well. Of course the classics are here, namely The Longest Time, Uptown Girl, and Tell Her About It. Then the underrated tracks, Careless Talk, Christie Lee, and Leave A Tender Moment Alone, and they're all good.

The worst song on the album somehow ended up on the Greatest Hits 3 comp which was Keeping The Faith, which is still good, but just something about brings it slightly under Easy Money.

But anyways, unlike Glass Houses and The Nylon Curtain, the whole album is great, while with those it's just the the first side is immaculate. But with An Innocent Man, every song back to back to back is great.

The best Billy Joel album since 52nd Street.
