Quite old sounding. Very sparse production, very oldschool flow. The opening 4 tracks are all classics, and while it does go downhill a bit from there, it's hard not to rate this album highly.

High energy music that doesn't take itself too seriously. I loved this album growing up, and it turns out I still enjoy it. Not entirely sure I would classify it as essential listening myself, but there's plenty other albums on the list that brings less.

Pretentious as all other PJ Harvey albums on this list. I will never understand what makes this album, or artist, essential listening.

During the first track I knew this was going to be a long hour.

Things actually picked up slightly and for a few tracks I was enjoying the undeniably great voice and sparse arangements. I'm not sure if the individual tracks lose steam, or if there's simply too much of it, but it did end up being a long (and slightly boring) hour.

I did not expect to like this, but I had an absolute blast. Having this on while working was perfect. Fast, high energy, varied enough to stay interesting while not demanding too much.

This didn't really do much for me. The music is fine, lyrics are okayish, vocals are fine. Nothing really outstanding, and dear lord there's a lot of it.

This was much faster and much more intense than I expected. I mostly know Manic Street Preachers for the later, much slower work, so this was a nice surprise.

This is perfectly good background music, and I really can't find any faults with any of it. I'm not sure it really rises above it's peers though.

DirtySonic Youth

Rated 8/10

Loud and hectic, but that's pretty much the point. The album sets up a load of interesting things, but I will never enjoy the vocal style of Sonic Youth. Quite interesting to have two lead singers, and neither of them really being a strong point.

I remember this album, and I think this is close to the definitive sound of eurodance in the 90s and 2000s. Supprisingly raw in places, but overall a very nice time.

Very British, and quite unusual. The music is pretty solid, and quite varied. Having a faux Micheal Paling doing some story telling between the tracks in a medley is certainly a choice, but I'm all for it.

Incredibly boring. Mick Hucknall has a great voice, but the end product is not worth the time investment.
