List seems insistent on pushing Bob Dylan to me lately, and I'm STILL not onboard. This is quintessential Bob Dylan. Other albums have surprised me some but this one is 100% what I expect when I hear his name.

Right from the jump I could tell this was produced by the Dust Brothers; hell yeah! Easily the best Beck album I've heard. That being said, it's still Beck. HIs vocals always sound like they're performed by someone who'd rather be doing anything else right now. Some of the cooler parts lose their impact due to their overly repetitive usage. And finally, I think this could have ben trimmed down in length. I'd still listen to this one again though. I fee like it might be a grower.

THIS is why I'm here! Never heard of this before today and I LOVE it. Wild experimentation throughout. Reminds me a lot of what Hawkwind was doing at the same time.

A couple real stinkers on here (Religion I and Foddertompf), but the rest of this surprised me. It's solid post-punk. The upbeat bangers are obviously more fun than the slower dirges, but all in all, I liked it.

I don't love all of The Cure's output, but this one is in the sweet spot for me. Great album with a good mix of guitar and synth.

Rated 10/10

I adore early R.E.M. and this is easily my favorite album of theirs. It's really hard for me to be objective about this album given my near 40 years of history with it. The recording, performance, and pacing are all near perfect as far as I'm concerned though. Nothing sounded like this when it was released. It was truly unique.

On paper, this is music I assume I would hate. Upon listening, I'm surprised to be enjoying it some. Sure it's dance music, but there are little snippets of jazz peppered in all over the place that bring a level of interest I didn't expect.

First half isn’t bad if you can get over the Bob Dylan vocals (I have a hard time with that). Back half goes back to more of his more traditional folk sound. I’m out.

Damn I love '70s soul, and Marvin is basically royalty when we talk about that. Wasn't familiar with this one before this listen. There's an undeniable jazz influence on here, compared to earlier material, but feels like a pretty natural evolution. Marvin's signature vocals are ever-present, but almost feel more subdued than usual, which allows the music equal footing rather than overshadowing it.

"Guy with an acoustic guitar" genre again... I really don't respond to this type of music positively. Folk, Americana, acoustic country; this is everything I never want to hear musically.
