I’ve only listened to Fetch the Bolt Cutters and the Idler Wheel but I should've known anything from Fiona Apple was going to be good

Queen mastered the art of making music that straddled the line between hard rock and theater kid music

Kind of Blue was the first jazz album I ever bought. I wanted to see if jazz could be my thing and well this is THE jazz album. The best one ever according to most people. I definitely didn’t fully get it at first. I thought it sounded nice. I often played it while I was going to sleep because it helped. Slowly I started to appreciate it more. Also the more jazz I listen to, the better Kind of Blue has become. Every note and inflection just seems perfect. I’ve also listened to it enough times that I know it front to back. I don’t know music theory or anything like that to be able to explain why it’s different or even necessarily innovative compared to other stuff of the time, but I can feel how perfect it is and it’s always great to revisit it

I respect what Kraftwerk did but they’re a band I kind of have to force myself to listen to. It’s pleasant music and interesting but not something I’m drawn to or need to relisten to much.

Possibly the weakest Doors album but still a 5/5

I listened to this three times in a row. It’s as great as it is short

I don’t know why there are so many club music albums on the list. This music exists to be played as singles in a club. Who is sitting down and just listening to 40 minutes of beats?
Rated 4/10
I listened to this last night and already forgot what it sounds like. In a week I’ll forget its existence entirely
Ya ya Billy Corgan kinda went off the deep end in the last few years but the Smashing Pumpkins older albums are still pretty great
Rated 8/10
I’m pretty sure I’ve been recommended this album before on streaming. I might’ve listened to one song and then moved on. But I’m glad I got it on this list because it is really good once you give it the time. It’s a softer 80s new wave sound and a nice little night time listen

Punk Bjork, call her Pjork

I am very surprised at how not terrible this is. Like it’s still not great, but it’s way more tolerable than I ever would’ve thought
Rated 6/10
The title track is great. All the other songs sound pretty similar with diminishing returns for each one. You really only need the title song and you get it
Rated 10/10
It switches between this and Ziggy Stardust as my favorite Bowie album. Even the more ambient tracks sound perfect and everything goes together
Pretty standard 60s psychedelic rock. Nothing too notable, but going off the other reviews this is something I’m more tolerant of and willing to give a go than most people
Rated 10/10
Otis just kind of owns any song he sings even when it’s not originally his
Rated 10/10
I recently watched a documentary about Pulp and the best part of it was multiple scenes of old people singing Pulp songs. They were just having a grand ole time
Rated 8/10
A very solid and underrated indie album in the vein of the Flaming Lips
Rated 6/10
I haven’t really listened to Joan Baez much before, but certainly she must have better albums than this. She’s a good singer but the songs are just folk covers and feel lacking
Rated 8/10
Don’t think I’ve heard any songs from Tusk before (at least none that I remember) despite having heard basically the entirety of Rumours just out and about in the world. Yeah it’s not as good as Rumours (but what is?), but this was still a very good listen
