Snore and Shrugs.

That was uncalled for, it's actually not that bad. Any one of these songs could hold its own if it were on a mid-1980s soundtrack.

The only thing that is noticeably bad about this album is the drumming (or programming). The '80s beats should have been left in the '80s. 30 years later. It's not nostalgic, it's just dumb.

Woah. I want to lie in the deepest part of a ship in the pitch black on a rolling sea while this echos through the hull. Is it whales singing? Is it God?

I'm on album 396 of this project. I've had all kinds of good, bad, and mediocre. This is only the 2nd album that absolutely devastated me right out of the gate. This well now be in my 5-star regular rotation.

Wow! 42 minutes is really long for a single song.

I was 10 years old when this album came out, growing up in white trash, small town in the US. So this album is pretty much an anthem for my entire junior high and high school years. Did I move on from all of that? Yes. Do I have any interest in listening to this album ever again? No. I don't really have anything against it, but I also don't have any nostalgia for it.

With all that said, I'm going to rate it pretty high for the impact and longevity it has. You really can't argue against its iconic status.

I think I said something pretty similar the last time I got an album by MBV...

I think I like the idea of this band more than I actually like their music. I expect it to be cool and raw and trippy. But it's mostly just boring.

I had never heard this before. There is a lot of potential here, especially in The rhythms, but it just comes up a little short. It's actually not too bad, just forgettable. I had started playing it and then forgot it was on like five times. It wouldn't bother me if this was on in the background but I can't see intentionally listening to it.

I don't know why, but I can picture some of the songs on this album being an opening credits scene for a medical or crime drama series

I understand some of the negative reviews. But sometimes you just had to be there. It was a cultural moment. LL, Marley Marl, Herc, and the rest are still cited as key influences on just about every successful hip hop album in the past 35 years. It sounds like 1990 in every best way.

I always struggle with rating Neil Young. His voice is like an ice pick to the eye. But his songwriting is elite. This album is good from start to finish.

This album is so freaking good. Even without the context is a 5-star. With the context, it's out of this world

This album is pretty good. Lots of classic songs, well done by Willie. I'm just not really sure I understand why it's on this list. Willie Nelson is one of the greatest songwriters in American history. He has over 100 albums. Why choose an album that doesn't feature his songwriting?

If I was making a movie and I needed a score, I would definitely consider hiring Mike Oldfield. I might even consider using some of the music from this album. But it's ridiculous to think that I'm just going to sit and listen to an hour of this for any other purpose.

This is hard for me to rate. It's not something I really enjoy listening to, but I understand why people would. If I stuck to my true rating system, this would be three stars but I'm going to bump it up to four for the quality.
