One of the few albums where the next track is so unpredictable but still fits so perfectly. So many imitators who seem to have got hung up on the quiet-loud music and shouty vocals, only to create bland, samey grunge records, forgetting what made these guys so special.

There's just so much variation in this record for what is a standard guitar band set up. Intricate, layered guitars, with melodies and counter melodies, backed by danceable, powerful bass lines, with distortion used to artistic effect rather than covering mediore abilities. Those lyrics are just insanely descriptive and utterly original too. They may have little meaning around day-to-day existence, but at least they're fascinating to listen to. Deal's backing vocals add so much as well. Both eerie and comforting.

Proper innovators with proper talent and imagination, perfectly showcased in this album. In my personal top 10. And I'll never not dance to Debaser. Needs to be listened to at 11.

Lovely album with Nick Drake vibes. But probably not essential listening before you die.

Prince is one of the few artists capable of producing a double album that merits it's length

Basic Kinks. They've got better albums. Sunny Afternoon is an all-timer though.

Love the singles but never been convinced by any Blur album I've listened to in full. This is no exception.

More weird and interesting and experimental than I anticipated. Still not for me though. Veers too much on the cheesy side of overproduced 80s pomposity. I think mainly due to Sting's vocals. Too smooth and confident.

Never fully got into The Stooges despite many attempts. Feel like I'm on the cusp though. Probably need to do some proper listening outside of work time. I wish I was a teenager again. Actually, scratch that, i wish I had the free time of a teenager. Definitely don't want to be a teenager again.

The blandest band to ever be the world's biggest rock band. Maybe their least bland album. Still pretty bland though.

A shame a lot of shops won't accept his payments anymore.

Love the title track. Rest is a bit overindulgent and immature. Much prefer Metal Box.

Pretty magical

Amazing production throughout, with . And really cant deny the influence and importance. But saying 'mother fucker' a lot isn't the most impressive lyrical performance. Nor are songs focused on Dre's dick or his glock. Some outright homophobia and misogyny too.
