It was drilled into me at an impressionable age, by numerous music journalists, that this was The Greatest Live Album Of All Time. It is absolutely fine, but definitely not the best or greatest or whatever. It rocks well in places, but The Who are........ overrated.

Apart from their singles and the Who's Next album.

Raw and ready. Tis a powerful trio (quartet?) that serve the songs well. Simplicity is in charge here and it works very well.

My favourite album of all-time. I know every second of it. I was 13 when it came out and I can still picture it sitting in the racks of Woolworths. The music here makes my heart yearn, but for what I don't know. The past? Now?
I am blind and deaf to any flaws this album may possess, to me it is perfect.

I've got to give this 5 stars. It doesn't stop. I think the 2nd half is possibly stronger than the 1st. The singles are classics for a good reason. The deep cuts are great - Diesel Power, Narayan, Climbatize, all top bangers.

A proper gem. I did not enjoy my previous Tim Buckley album - too dramatic. This one was a groovy little beast. The bass player was having a great time, the horns add some life and the production is pretty perfect for this. The lyrics are dated but still....

Yep. Traditional English folk music updated for the 60s. The guitar playing is sensational and a couple of the tunes (Needle of Death and Angie) are truly brilliant.

My partner and I have been together for 18 years. Whenever I listen to the Beta Band she asks "Who's this?" She asks cos it's sounds cool. Today, was the first time she said "This is the Beta Band." I've waited 18 years for this moment.
This album can seem boring if you're not paying attention. I can see how it's not for everyone. However, it does reward close listening, preferably at night.

Didn't really get much time to listen, but it sounded promising. The opener and Sledgehammer were both jams. I'll come back to this.

It's possible that these songs aren't that bad, but the 80s production is not for me. It's all too cheesy and soft sounding.

Scratchy and punky. I really like it. It feels like having your ears scraped clean from the inside. I'd heard Songs About Fucking before but this might be even better.

Some very decent stuff but it just won't click. I don't like some of the louder guitar parts. They take me out of the calmer moments. A good album that I just don't get.

Ugh. This is very white, middle class music. It's cutesy and lacks a sense of rhythm or backbeat. I'm not interested in the story about the scientists either. Some of the textures are pleasant but that doesn't cover for the lack of tunes.

Good news - Every Night and Junk are two of the most beautiful, effortless melodies I've ever heard.
Not so good news - a lot of this album is made up of under-developed instrumentals and half-written songs.
