It’s between this one and the debut for which Dexys album I liked the best. But three is still two too many. This is one with the big hit everyone knows though. The second half of this flows very well. Has someone told them that 25 or 6 to 4 was already made before they just tried to do it again with Let’s Make This Precious? Favorite songs were The Celtic Soul Brothers, All In All, Plan B, Until I Believe In My Soul, and Come On Eileen.

Haven’t revisited this one in a long time. I wanted to say “it hasn’t held up” or “they were never good”. I can’t say either of those things. Although they would go on to show us how it feels to drive a Ford F-150, this album is still really great and absolutely holds up. “British”, but good.

I don’t think this is quite as good as Superfuzz Bigmuff. I just wish this was a little louder. It doesn’t sound quite as “big” as the other big grunge bands, but I think partially that’s because they came first. Favorite songs were Good Enough, Something So Clean, Who You Drivin’ Now?, Pokin’ Around, and Don’t Fade IV.

This is a pleasant Bossa Nova album. Is she a Nepo baby? Perhaps… her voice is interesting and the instrumentation is solid. Favorite songs were So Nice, Bananeira, Close Your Eyes, and No Return.
Rated 8/10
This was a good album. It just feels a little overstuffed. I’m sure there is a 5:5 album in here if you cut 15-20 minutes of material. A lot poppier than his work with Pixies. Favorite songs were Abstract Plain, Calistan, Headache, Freedom Rock, Two Reelers, and Psace Is Gonna Do Me Good.

This was enjoyable enough. Grateful it didn’t outstay its welcome as a lot of electronic and house albums tend to. The songs were diverse and the beats were fun. Glad I listened.

What can you say about this one that hasn’t already been said. The bass. The BASS!! Whole band was locked in. The energy behind the vocals. Awesome album.
Rated 8/10
This is a good album. Really great songwriting and solid instrumentals. I liked this more than Graceland. Favorites were Duncan, Run that Body Down, Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard, Papa Hobo, and Paranoia Blues.

This is absolutely influential. Without this we would have no Viagra Boys and that’s a world I don’t want to live in. Wild lyrics and great energy permeate everything here. Maybe the third most significant person/group out of Akron Ohio. Favorite songs were Uncontrollable Urge, Satisfaction, Mongoloid, Too Much Paranoias, Gut Feeling, and Come Back Jonee.

This was a pleasant surprise. I had never listened to any of her music prior to this, but I know Dirty Computer received a lot of praise when that came out. I think the latter half of this went a little far into the “could be a stage musical” direction for me. If it stopped after Mushrooms and Roses I would have given this a higher score. Favorite songs were Faster, Cold War, Tightrope, and Mushrooms and Roses.

Listen man, I love Pink Floyd, I really do, but this one never connected with me in the same way as Dark Side or WYWH. I would even go as far as to say it’s probably my fifth favorite album by them. It’s just a little too long and I don’t think it really sticks the landing in the same way as an Eclipse or Echoes. That’s not say it isn’t great. It absolutely is. The transition between The Happiest Days Of Our Lives and Pt 2 is amazing still.

Fantastic set of songs that are much more accessible compared to Trout Mask Replica. There is still great musicianship and weirdness to be found here. Beefheart’s growl really works with the bluesy style.
Rated 8/10
This album is great. Probably my favorite Can album I have listened to. The second half, especially Aumgn and Peking O, feel like exercises in musical surrealism. I understood the intent and while I can’t say I really want to revisit it all that often I respect the artistry. The whole first half is fantastic though.
A bunch of really great songs, but not quite a really great album. They’re doing a lot of great things, but I just wanted a little more from this. Hard to find a single person who dislikes Tom Petty. American Girl is an all timer. Favorite songs were Rockin’ Around, Breakdown, Fooled Again, and American Girl.
Rated 8/10
Not sure why this one was included over American Water. This one is still really good. The lyrics are the standout here. Silver Jews is a lot like country tinged Pavement. Favorite songs were Room Games And Diamond Rain, I Remember Me, Horseleg Swastikas, and Let’s Not And Say We Did.
Rated 8/10
All albums should have a version translated into German. Can’t fault this for the use of the gated drum sound if this is the genesis of it. I think this is handily my favorite Peter Gabriel solo album. Album cover is really cool too. Favorite songs were No Self Control, I Don’t Remember, And Through The Wire, and Biko.
Rated 6/10
This is unfortunate because the first song is really great and then everything else is kinda just there. Not bad by any means but it just kinda blends together after a while. Favorite songs were Stolen Car and Stars All Seem To Weep
Rated 8/10
This is best Cure album I’ve listened to to date. This provides really great atmosphere. The bass lines and echoey drums are really excellent. Favorite songs were One Hundred Years, The Hanging Garden, The Figurehead, and A Strange Day.
Rated 4/10
Absolute wet fart of an album by a band that made something as good as War. Beautiful Day is solid, but it feels like it’s just retreading the ground already covered on The Joshua Tree. Stuck In A Moment You Can’t Get Out Of is quite good though even if the rest is meh to me.
Rated 10/10
Very close contest between this and Elephant for the best White Stripes album. Lots of diversity in songwriting here. It’s a fun time that flows really well. We’re Going To Be Friends feels like the quaint type of song Paul would have written to slot right in the middle of a Beatles album.
