I'm not sure how appropriate it is to rate this the same as the White album but here goes!
Lots of fun. Little ditties, I saw him in concert promoting this album long ago.

Rated 8/10

Kommer ihåg Headache från denna skiva. Fler bra låtar som Ole Mulholland och Big Red. Lite för många låtar.

Rated 6/10

pretty good but too long

Rated 4/10

Top : Freedom Rock
Flop : Fiddle Riddle

Teenager Of The Year was a really good alt rock album. I had no idea that this guy was part of the Pixies so when i saw that Black Francis (His other name) had 4 albums including the 3 Pixies albums and this one, i was confused. This definitely does sound different than any of Black's work with Pixies by nixing a lot of the grunge elements and making this into more of a regular alt rock album. I think that it is a really good alt rock album with heavy guitars, good vocals and a good pace to the songs. However, i don't understand why it's on this list seeing as it sounds like so many of it's contemporaries. That being said, i think this album still sounds very good and that deserves some stars.
Best Song: Two Reelers
Worst Song: The Hostess With The Mostest

"Headache" feels like it would have been the Pixies' next logical step after Trompe le Monde- most tracks honestly feel that way. The other tracks on the record are all alright, but the record should have obviously been cut down. A tight 40 would have actually probably made for a 4/5 rather than a 3. His music is fun, well-produced and always forward-thinking.

Some great songs and some forgettable ones that make the whole thing feel a bit too long … on balance, a high 3

Rated 6/10

(at the time of writing the review) This has an average score of exactly 3. Yeah that's about right. I liked parts of it, the start of it hmmm not so much, but it mellowed out x

Rated 6/10

Rated 6/10

There's some good stuff here, but just because a CD can hold more than an hour of music doesn't mean it has to.

Might have been stronger if someone had taken Frank aside and insisted they cut 20 minutes.

Rated 4/10

Гипертрофированно раздутый и не особо интересный сольный альбом вокалиста The Pixies. Но все не так плохо, хотя конечно и очень далеко от хорошего

Rated 6/10

I don't know that this is essential, or even Frank Black's best album, but it is thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless. For the uninitiated, Frank Black (or Black Francis, depending on the era) is best known as a load bearing member of Pixies. To get the biggest "problem" out of the way, this list has *at least* two Pixies albums, on which is the bulk of Frank Black's best material. It makes the inclusion of this just feel sort of bizarre. It's also a little long for thr kind of album that it is, and there are some inessential songs here. But I would say that, approximately, the first, third, and fourth quarters of this album are really good. It feels like Frank is experimenting with any idea a little too weird or uncharacteristic to be on a Pixies album. But it gives these songs a lot of range, from really odd textural experiments, to straight punk moments, to effective, but ultra straight forward alt rock songs: even an odd moment of reggae on Fiddle Riddle. Teenager Of The Year ends up an album with an identity of it's own, even if this identity isn't quite as compelling as that of Pixies. Some of my favorites here are the first three songs, Two Reelers, Olé Mulholland (which is the song here that probably feels the most "Pixies"), and The Hostess With The Mostest. My only other comment is that I could do with a little more delivery that reaches the manic, fevered energy of his performances in Pixies. But he is still compelling, and it *is* kind of neat to hear him in a different mode for much of this. Like I said, the result is compelling, and very enjoyable, just maybe not essential.

*Solid 90s indie rock with unique vocals

Rated 6/10

Gut, aber zu lang. Dafür nur 3 Sterne

Rated 5/10

Some classic early 90s alternative. I've heard enough.

Rated 6/10

There are some good songs here but why is it sooooooo long? Frank Black/Black Francis was the main songwriter in the Pixies, so he doesn’t even have the George Harrison excuse of previously being sidelined by his bandmates. Basically, there’s a great 12-track album in here fighting to get out.

Rated 6/10

Honestly, just a fine alt rock record from Black Francis here. Feel like I prefer the stuff he did with Pixies.

Might just be me, but we already have too many Pixies albums on the list (I'd cut Bossanova). Don't think we need a solo Black Francis album, even if it is good. I'd rather have seen an album from The Breeders (Pod or Last Splash) than this.

Rated 8/10

Thoroughly enjoyed this. The opening more frenetic tracks kinda reminded me of something Mike Patton might do. Some of the more Pixiesh tracks such as “…Abstract Plain” felt as though Kim Deal was missing. The whole thing was a bit long and some tracks in the middle lost me a bit, but overall it’s a cool record.

pa nije mi ovo uopće bilo loše. razmjerno raznovrsno i zabavno, ali trunku predugo, mjestimice jednostavno isuviše generično. sve u svemu, baš za neku trojkastu trojčicu
