The further down on the Jerry Lee Lewis Wikipedia page I got, the worse it got. This dude was a real piece of shit. However, he really knew how to make that piano sing. The songs here all have an infectious energy that’s makes you want to get up and boogie. Favorites were What’d I Say, Great Balls Of Fire, and Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On

Dream pop is absolutely the right descriptor here. The whole thing feels like floating down a dark river. The vocals provide such texture to the songs. Favorite songs were Ivo, Lorelei, Persephone, Aloysius, and Donimo.

Is this one of the best metal albums of all time? Absolutely yes. Everything here is just so tight. The guitar work absolutely rips. This takes what worked on Peace Sells and cranks it up to 11
I mean it’s fine, but there’s nothing original here. It’s just all covers. The songs are good the performances are entertaining, but that’s like me putting Weezer’s Teal Album on the list. Just because it’s The Stones doesn’t mean it needs to be here.

This is very reminiscent of Love Symbol/Diamonds and Pearls era Prince. Definitely does the “I’m making serious music about serious topics” lyricism, but it’s so much fun I’ll give it a pass. Lot of interludes here, but I’m glad they are their own separate tracks so I can skip them in future listens. Favorite songs were Rhythm Nation, Miss You Much, Livin’ In A World, and Escapade.

With every one of these I feel worse and worse about how I rated Tears For Fears. I listened to this three times and can recall the chorus to Promised You A Miracle and that’s about it.

This is a quick easy listen that just seems to fly by almost to its detriment. I just wish it was a little meatier. Also, I know I complained about it, but not having a Dylan cover on here makes me a miss them. I like the horse on the cover. Favorite songs were Goin’ Back, Get To You, and Tribal Gathering.

Just from an album sequencing perspective why couldn’t they have split up the 15 minute songs instead of putting them back to back? I thought the song Stagger was quite interesting, but I had to wade through an hour of music before it to get there. Pearl’s Girl is pretty good too.

Probably the most straightforward thing I’ve listened to from him. This is really good. The songs are catchy and go interesting places while retaining accessible lengths. Favorites were Needles In The Camel’s Eye, Baby’s On Fire, Some Of Them Are Old, and Here Come The Warm Jets.

Tina is obviously the main attraction here and she’s great, but this album is held back by the terrible 80’s production. Favorite songs were What’s Love Got To Do With It, Let’s Stay Together, and Steel Claw.
Spending an entire song glazing Stevie Wonder is absurd. I guess those Lebron song parodies had some historical merit. The Message is a classic that hits on some good lyrical themes and the production throughout the whole album is funky and danceable. This early 80’s hip hop just hasn’t aged all the best in comparison to more modern stuff. Still fun though, and any time a song samples Genius of Love it is most appreciated.

The part in Eric’s Trip that sounds like an elephant is really neat to me. The guitars throughout this entire thing just rip. The hooks are really catchy within the distortion. A double album that feels worthy of its length.

And here’s the sellout album. Alt rock radio milked everything this album had (shoutout Philly radio 104.5). It’s still solid though. Favorite songs were Crawl, Sex On Fire, Use Somebody, and Revelry.

In his final days David Bowie created one of his finest works of art. The lyrics ooze humor and charm. The jazzy instrumentation creates a haunting atmosphere. Just a perfect final chapter. The GOAT.

Well they made their Sgt. Peppers so it’s only fair they can make their White Album. While this is definitely not as good as Rumours it does a good job of showing the range of the band. I think the Stevie led songs are a lot of my favorites here. Favorites were Over And Over, The Ledge, Sara, Sisters Of The Moon, Angel, That’s Enough For Me, Beautiful Child, and Tusk.

I don’t think I can do this kind of soft rock. I tried, I really did. There’s just no punch to it. It’s the kind of thing that would be hold or elevator music. I kept wanted there to be some crazy drum fills or for that saxophone that sneaks in occasionally to have a ripping solo and then I remember what kind of music I’m listening to and am disappointed. I know I should listen to this as it is and not as I want it to be, but the dated synths and mostly uninteresting vocals fail to allow me not to consider what could be.

This is a fantastic album for what it is aiming for. If I close my eyes I can imagine the PA announcements, moving walkways, and departure/arrival boards. Ambient stuff like this is good to put on in the background but there’s not much here I can really grab onto. Great stuff, but just in a very specific way.

Steely Dan is dangerous because I was moments away from cracking open a beer in the middle of the workday. Probably my third favorite album by the Dan and it’s just so damn good.
All these songs seemed a little similar for me. Maybe if I understood the lyrics I would have dug this more. The guitar tone was pretty neat though. Favorite song was Desespoir.
This is an interesting idea, but it is scarcely more than the sum of its parts. It’s Metallica with an orchestra. It’s also over two hours long. Minus one star for the length. Too long and barely any of the songs amaze me enough to go back to these over the studio versions. The version of For Whom The Bell Tolls is my favorite song here.
