Probably the weakest of all the Nick Cave albums I have listened to so far. The storytelling is still solid on here and the piano instrumentals are good enough. I just don’t think it’s quite to the level of a Henry’s Dream or AB/TLoO. Favorites were Into My Arms and The One That I’ve Been Waiting For?

Very different instrumentally than the rest of the albums from them I’ve heard. This was pretty good. The songs have just as much soul and the vocals are great. Favorites were Concrete Jungle, Stop That Train, Stir It Up, No More Trouble, and Midnight Revers.

I’m not sold. Instrumentally many songs on this album are really great. Some of the vocals just are not very interesting. Good guitar work from Jeff Beck and solid bass too. I thought I would like this more from the band that brought us Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. Favorites were Lost Woman, Over Under Sideways Down, and Jeff’s Boogie.

Really great ska album. Great use of horns and solid rhythms. Definitely liked this more than the other album by them on the list. Entertaining lyrics throughout as well. Favorites were A Message To You Rudy, Doesn’t Make It Alright, Concrete Jungle, Monkey Man, New Era, and Little Bitch.

Yeah…. This guy might be a genius. The first half of this album is a psychedelic journey where each small idea flows into the next so seamlessly. The second half features some great soul with great variety of instrumentation. I loved Something/Anything but this is something else entirely. The moment he goes “tic tic tic” I sat up in my chair and was locked in until the end. Fantastic record.

It’s another great album from Sonic Youth. Maybe my favorite band I was able to dive into as a result of doing this project. Just love their noisy guitars and vocals. Haven’t heard anything I dislike from them yet. Favorites were 100%, Theresa’s Sound-World, Wish Fulfillment, Sugar Kane, Chapel Hill, and Purr.

I really liked this. Everything is super heavy and the crescendos really work. The synths are jagged and the guitars sound good. Not a big fan of the songs with vocals as I think they detracted from the great instrumentals. I like how Neptune Street ends the album on a positive note after the rather dark rest. Favorites were Dirge, Death Threat, Lever Street, and Neptune City.

Solid album. I had fun listening to it. I like the noisy guitars and bass forward instrumentals. I think other bands were doing this dance punk style a little better though. Favorites were Golden Skans, Totem On The Timeline, and Gravity’s Rainbow.

Some really truly awful stuff here. Like they are trying to be Alice Cooper but they’re bad at it. Starts off alright with Detroit Rock City which has a solid riff and is fun enough and just goes off the rails from there. Great Expectations is the biggest stinker here. So many other bands doing what is done here so much better.

His lyrics are great here and I just love how this one sounds. Very much does sound like he recorded this in a cellar. Probably my second favorite album of his I have heard. Favorites were The Earth Died Screaming, Dirt In The Ground, Who Are You, Goin’ Out West, and That Feel.

Solid guitar work and his voice reminds me of the vocalist from Alt-J. Just gets somewhat repetitive with every song being basically the same. Probably listen to the whole thing again. Favorites were Will Is My Friend and Todos los Dolores.

I exist on the planet earth. Of course, I have heard this album already. It is important that I make the following statements: Off The Wall is better, Purple Rain is better, Prince > MJ. Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ is just not as good an opener as Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough. The Girl Is Mine is a skip. Thriller is good, but is somewhat carried by its music video. Beat It and Billie Jean are all timers.

I’ve heard the Grateful Dead play El Paso on about sixty different recordings and I knew Big Iron, but every other song here was new to me. Just a delightful set of western songs about cowboys. He paints a great picture for all these stories. One of the best country albums I have ever listened to.

It took a couple listens for this to click with me. The strings are really shimmery and her voice is really interesting. Utopia is a gorgeous song. The humming synths and background vocals just give it such a shine. Favorites were Human, Pilot, and Utopia.

Might but a hot take, but this is the best of three Elvis albums I have listened to. His voice is still great, the production is clean and the songs are well arranged. My one major complaint might be how low the base is sometimes. The second half is also definitely a step up from the first. Gentle On My Mind sometimes sounds like Forever by the Beach Boys and I love that song. Favorites are Wearin’ That Loved On Look, Long Black Limousine, Gentle On My Mind, In The Ghetto, Suspicious Minds, and Kentucky Rain.

I understand what they are going for here with the satire, but I just think musically it falls flat sometimes. The sounds, vocal clips, and song fragments don’t feel like something I will want to come back to. Freak Out was weird sometimes but that one had enough full songs. I did like how What’s The Ugliest Part Of Your Body? Had a reprise to keep with the Sgt Peppers parody.

I liked this. The first half is more atmospheric. Catch The Sun is just a Foo Fighters song. Favorites were Here It Comes, Sea Song, and Catch The Sun.

Slightly better than Hysteria in that it was shorter. Otherwise it is similarly bleh. I just don’t care for this type of hard rock. I could be listening to AC/DC instead. Foolin’ is an alright song.

It’s an all-timer. Definitely ahead of the alternative rock sound of the 90’s. The dual vocals with the alternating dynamics. Not quite as good as Doolittle, but very few are. Can’t not mention the greatness of Where Is My Mind?

Great blending of Reggae with hip-hop. On par with, if not better, than Miseducation. The guests provide great verses. Everything is so smooth here. Just exceptionally relistenable.
