I liked this album, but couldn’t really get into a few of the songs. I like how the one song just lists 007 titles. Neat use of horns throughout. Favorite songs were Enjoy Yourself, Hey Little Rich Girl, and Sock It To ‘Em JB.

Love me some Steely Dan. These songs are so smooth and they just sound incredible. I need a Miller High Life in my hand and my ass in a lawn chair expeditiously. Favorite songs were Bodhisattva, The Boston Rag, Show Biz Kids, and My Old School.

This one upsets me. I want to be different so bad. I want to be that guy who says “this is massively overrated”, but I just can’t. It’s really great. Even the songs featuring Nico on lead vocals don’t detract from my enjoyment. You win banana album, you win.

This is well made, but it just seems somewhat average. Not something that will really stick with me. Something I likely wouldn’t notice being on at a bar. The backing instrumentals were good. My favorite songs were Drunken Angel and Can’t Let Go.

An album I’ve never heard of from a band that I have never heard of. This was a pleasant surprise. Upon further research I now know this is the group Jimmy Page stole stairway from. This album was really great. Reminded me of The Kinks and XTC. Favorite songs were Nature’s Way, Animal Zoo, Mr. Skin, and Street Worm.

Not as good as the self titled album for me. The drumming is still the highlight. It’s a little too long. My favorite songs were Sulfur and Psychosocial.

I knew a lot more of these songs than I initially thought I did. This is a really great album. Everything here is really catchy while maintaining the rhythmic baselines and drumming as expected of new wave. The guitar solo on Skidmarks On My Heart is really great. Favorites were Our Lips Are Sealed, Lust To Love, We Got The Beat, Fading Fast, and Skidmarks on My Heart.

I’m glad I took my time with this one because it’s definitely one that takes a couple listens. Don’t is a crazy way to end the album. Very much reminded me of Pavement and in parts like The Flaming Lips. Favorite songs were Freak Scene, Yeah We Know, Let It Ride, and Budge.

True 80’s excess. This album makes me feel like I need to get on my hog and evade law enforcement. Highlights were Gimme All Your Lovin’, Sharp Dressed Man, Legs, and Thug.

This one is a bit of a mixed bag. Sometimes it just seems like he is trying to sound like someone else. Modern Love sounds like Springsteen and Excuse Me sounds like Randy Newman. I liked this more than So. Favorites were Solsbury Hill, Waiting For The Big One, and Here Comes The Flood.

Speaking objectively, the drumming on this album is excellent, the arrangements are lush, the harmonies are good, and the vocals are on point. Speaking subjectively, I absolutely hated this. I can’t stand her voice. It bores me. I very nearly fell asleep during Crescent Noon.

I definitely heard the David Bowie and Smiths influences. I just had a hard time caring. It’s well made but it’s something I would immediately flip past in the CD section of my local record store. I like other britpop albums more. Favorite song was Heroine.

This is a very consistently good record. It tells a story and the use of piano and other instruments serves his somewhat monotone vocals well. Highlights were Lady Day, Caroline Says I, Oh Jim, and Sad Song.

This album was ahead of its time. Unfortunately, it also sounds compressed to shit. I can’t hear the vocals 90% of the time. I would like this so much more if I could hear it. Sister Ray is awesome though, and Lou Reed’s vocals on Lady Godiva’s Operation are so funny to me. Favorite songs were White Light/White Heat, Lady Godiva’s Operation, and Sister Ray.

The most British band to ever come out of Las Vegas. The front half of this album is incredible stuff. Just hit after hit. The back half is pretty great too.

This is one I have always wanted to listen to because I like the cover, but have never got around to until now. This is abrasive as shit. I love it. The beginning of Cables sounds like metal pipes smashing against concrete. Favorite songs were Passing Complexion, Kerosene, Fists of Love, Stinking Drunk, and Strange Things.

I don’t think I liked this one quite as much as If I Should Fall From Grace With God. Favorite songs were The Old Main Drag, Sally MacLennane, Dirty Old Town, and The Band Played Waltzing Matilda.

The title tracks takes you on such a journey and then it returns back to its central theme and you remember where you came from. Incredible stuff. Favorite songs were Autobahn and Morgenspaziergang.
