Unfortunately, I missed out on The Last Shadow Puppets back in 2008; otherwise, I’m sure I would have really enjoyed their album *The Age of Understatement*. You can basically picture it as if The Beatles had created a soundtrack for a Western that can’t quite decide whether it’s meant to be a parody.
These are indeed promising ingredients, and combined with the professional production—which, unfortunately, isn’t a given even for the albums on this list—the result is a record that’s genuinely fun. The only thing that would have made the album even better would have been at least one truly outstanding single release.
For me, this is one of the most pleasant surprises of this project so far!

Recognised Alex Turners voice right away. It was a good album, never a moment I didn't enjoy it. That said, I did kind of miss a spark. It's all solid but not really making me long for more. If only it just had 1 real enjoyable hit on it or something.

FINALLY SOMETHING WORTH LISTENING TO

Arctic Monkeys, but not. They're not something I seek out often, but I respect. Same story here

Despite listening to this album several times today, it just isn’t making any lasting impression on me. It’s fine, I can’t point to anything I dislike about it. It just doesn’t stand out in any way.
Rated 8/10
Very much enjoyed this, having only previously been familiar with Alex Turner's most recognised work as the frontman of Arctic Monkeys, and having never touched base with Miles Kane.
This doesn't entirely lose the urban, gritty aesthetic that marked Arctic Monkeys's earlier material, instead channelling aspects of it into something of a galloping spaghetti western meets grandiose 60s baroque pop sound, in the vein of early Scott Walker and Ennio Morricone. Whilst it does lean heavily into its influences, the orchestral arrangements here elevate the songs into sweeping, dramatic soundtracks, whilst retaining a degree of wit and British cynicism that prevents them from becoming too over earnest. The tight running time of 35 minutes is a huge positive as well, with the album concluding just as you feel that the well could have begun to run dry.
Possibly one I'd purchase.

For some reason this album took me forever to get through, even though I liked it. Reminds me of western movie genre music.
Rated 6/10
It's like a stepping stone album before Arctic Monkeys abandoned the style that made them famous and adopted this style of music instead. Doesn't deserve a place on the list but Brit bias strikes again. 2.5/5. Raising to 3.
Rated 6/10
It's a record that sounds like a 60's record but sung by the Arctic Monkeys. It's nice but there is no "waow" factor.

Nice surprise. The drum beat reminiscent of a punk past

Better than Coldplay

Interesting, but just not my jam.

This was really good. Lots of cool instrumentation, variety, and melodies.

Rated 10/10
Arctic monkeys but make it more orchestral and groovier. I really dig this, 5*
My mistakes were made for you sounds like straight up James Bond music.
Highlights: calm like you, my mistakes were made for you

Sometimes a super group is just a group.

OK
Rated 6/10
No es malo, simplemente no es el tipo de música que escucharía. Me gustaron bastantes cosas del álbum pero simplemente no pude rescatar nada específico.
Rated 6/10
I mean it’s alright. It’s the guy from Arctic Monkeys doing his best version of 60’s orchestral pop. Doesn’t quite have the same energy as those first couple Monkey’s albums. Highlights were Standing Next To Me, Calm Like You, and The Meeting Place.
Rated 4/10
I see why people call this landfill indie.
