I literally just listened to this for the first time earlier today. Are you guys fucking spying on me?!?!?! You'll be hearing from my lawyer.
I think Tori is a damn good lyricist. I certainly feel a disconnect with some of the more "theatrical" elements, though I don't personally feel that they dominate the album. Whereas the Kate Bush that I'm familiar with feels very rooted in a style of pop music that I'm not a huge fan of, Tori sounds a lot more rooted in a brand of songwriting that I relate to and appreciate more. "Crucify", "Girl", "Happy Phantom", "Leather", and "Me and a Gun" stand out in particular to me, and even though I don't think I'll ever be a huge fan of hers or even return to this album all that much, I definitely don't take too much issue with it in general.

This one never really grabbed me. Something about her singing voice isn't my thing. She's obviously talented, so it's probably just a taste thing on my end.
Rated 8/10
Great sound. Kate-Bush-esque
Rated 4/10
If it weren't screechy, it'd be better
Rated 3/10
Too dramatic, started ok but as it went it dropped to a two

Storladent.

"Got enough guilt to start my own religion."
Tori Amos put the bar for any follow-up album incredibly high with a 1-2-3 of 'Silent All These Years - Precious Things - Winter.'
I don't have much more to add than others with 5* have already said.

Pretty good

First album I got that is actually in .y current rotation. So visceral. I love her.

Tori must have listened to Kate. 2.3
Rated 6/10
Tori Amos is like if Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morissette, and Kate Bush had a kid. It's quirky and weird like Kate Bush, slightly depressing like Sarah McLachlan, and her singing is like Alanis Morissette. The more I listen to her, the better it gets, it's just quirky as hell.
Favourite songs: Crucify, Happy Phantom, Winter, Leather, Tear in Your Hand
Least favourite songs: Mother, Me and a Gun

An exceptional album, with a couple of properly arresting tracks - me and a gun in particular makes you stop what you're doing and listen.
Like a wonderful mix of Kate Bush, Björk and Alanis Morissette, with flawless vocals, wonderful instrumentation and musicianship, and exceptional lyrics.

Een beetje kunstzinnig als Kate Bush. Maar muzikaal iets minder uitgesproken en met minder bijzonder stemgeluid.
Rated 6/10
These songs are definitely super personal, and I can recognize and respect that, but a lot of this album is just generally boring, especially due to the style at the time musically. Also, once again, overly long, which seems to be a theme for albums for me this week. Still, not as bad as I expected, there were even genuinely good parts.
Rated 2/10
Not a big Tori Amos fan...probably my least favorite of the old Lilithcore artists. 1.5/5

Silent all these years a great song - didn't hate the rest of it that much

Ihan menevää poppista, mut ehkä vähän aikaansa jäänyt. 3/5

Sounds like she was picking up where Kate Bush was leaving off in the early 90s.
Rated 6/10
I may have had a slight crush on Tori Amos back in the mid-90s.
