So incredibly superb

It's very good. Funk plus psychedelia. What more do you want people?

4/5. My first brush with the Funkadelic/Parliament funk empire on the generator, and what a good one to start with. Sadly it’s not currently up on streaming (due to a record label dispute from what I understand) but there was a decent rip of it on YouTube. It starts very strong with the title track which has a fantastic bass-line along with some strong vocal delivery. And the album continues on that same pace with several great long funk-rock jams, including a really great live rendition of the Maggot Brain guitar solo near the end.

this was ok but maggot brain was better

It seems that Funkadelic’s “One Nation Under A Groove” isn’t available in its entirety on Spotify. That’s a shame, because the available tracks—“Who Says A Funk Band Can’t Play Rock” and “One Nation Under A Groove”—are really good, and some of the songs I looked up based on the tracklist are on a similar level.
What stands out is Mike Hampton’s guitar work, which is remarkably virtuosic for a funk band—that alone would justify the “rock” label. Otherwise, it’s just 70s funk: pretty nice, well-arranged, and professionally produced, but everything is 3–5 BPM slower than you’d approach it today.
It’s fine, I’d say.

good, LOVE funkadelic, works surprisingly well as background music

Okay, this was probably the precursor to so many G-funk tracks. Each track flows well, forming a cohesive sound that explores different grooves and tempos. And personally, it just makes me want to dance!!

It's a quintessential funk album but also one that's undeniably proud of its Black roots. All that to say, I want nothing but the funk, George!

Funker bra det her, men savner sterkere låtfokus.

Fried ice cream IS a reality! Thanks for the psychic enema.

This is just funky, psychedelic, weird, and experimental in all the right ways. Absolutely loved it!

While listening to Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squad (The Doo Doo Chasers), I realized that Funkadelic is the band that Frank Zappa would have formed if he was influenced by funk instead of classical music.

It’s a shame licensing disputes keeps albums off streaming, but all the more reason for me to go find this one on vinyl.

chaotic and fun

It’s starts quite enjoyable and obviously very funky, however the tracks are sooo long they become monotonous and boring. By half way through track two i’ve had enough and know all tracks are gonna be the same.
Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis enema squad is just shit, so the name is at least partly right. The remaining tracks fall back into meandering overlong funk.
For the second time i’ve seen Funkadelic pop up, think this will be good and then been proven quite how wrong i can be.

I have this issue with funk songs, and Funkadelic songs in particular:

Minutes 0-3: "This is great!"
Minutes 4-5: "Yeah, this has been going on a bit too long now, I'm ready for the next song"
Minutes 6+: "Is this ever going to end?!"

That being said, the first 3 minutes of the opening track was the perfect song to walk to work with. I was pretty much strutting. The lyrics are hysterical as well, so that was fun. Overall however, I have not pledged "a groovallegiance to the funk".

Oh my funk is this ever groovy! Impossible not to enjoy yourself listening to this album.

Upvote if you believe fried ice cream is a reality

Like the sound but one one song was memorable

Alright, alright, alright! Busy day today, got a nice jacket and park run so almost no time to re-listen to this, but I do have it on vinyl as it wasn't on Spotify, one of the first records I ever bought actually. Classic funk, robably can go to 4 stars, will see

Rated 4/10

Funky, yes. But ultimately just a bit too boring

Rated 8/10

Excellent lp. It reminds me of slightly less funky version of Trout Mask Replica.

Rated 8/10

What a wonderful listen. I think this project is slowly making me more of a fan of funk/soul. It’s an actual crime this gem isn’t on Spotify.
