Records like this are why I gave up on my initial attempt to listen to all of the albums in this list in chronological order when I reached the mid-70s
Rated 8/10
Banger after banger. There were like 4 singles on this album, and everything that wasn't should have been

I know the hits, but never really did a deep dive into a full album. I expected to like a few tracks, but this is a BANGER front to back. Hard for me to throw around the term "perfect album" but this might just be that! "Lynyrd Skynyrd Smokes"
Rated 4/10
There’s a certain stereotype of a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan that, as someone who grew up in Missouri, I have had the extreme misfortune of verifying many times over. So I never really sat down and listened to the band.
Turns out I wasn’t missing anything. This band is what a confederate flag sounds like.
Rated 6/10
All around a pretty good vibe. Tuesdays Gone is great and Free Bird is a phenomenal closer. Other than those the other songs were just a bit more interesting than wallpaper. 3/5

4/5 would so massacre people in a church to this
Rated 6/10
I've heard most of these songs before and the ones I've heard were good, I guess there's a reason I ha ent heard the others. Overall decent album. 3/5

Closer to 4.5 stars than you might think. If a few of the non-hits were on the same level as the hits, it would be there. At least.
Skynyrd has developed a strange reputation thanks to the atrocity that is the reunion-era band, the played-out "Free Bird" jokes, and "Sweet Home Alabama" attaining a level of radio overplay that should be illegal. But don't sleep on the original lineup's albums. It's not just good southern rock; it's damn good rock and roll period.

Though not 5 stars... but a solid 4.8 stars!!!

This holds up really well.

This album has a nice selection of cozy rock music from the 70s.
Liked songs: Gimme Three Steps, Simple Man and Free Bird
Rated 6/10
Rated 10/10
I've been sleeping on Skynyrd too long. This is like all the best parts of country music without the awful steel guitar!
Rated 6/10
Dreading the connotation this band has and their use of the confederate flag because fuck hate and racism. But just like I did for Kanye, I will rate this on musical merit. This is very much dad rock, a couple of decent songs, but I'm getting tired of this genre. 3*.
Highlights: free bird, tuesday's gone

All killer no filler! Lynyrd Skynyrd brings it with there debut. It took me a long time to really dig into skynyrd, I knew the hits but never sat down and listened to the albums. It was probably a few years ago that i finally dug in and man these guys rule.
Rated 10/10
