Pleasant folk.
Rated 8/10
tight male female vocal americana. A fine album if that's your thing.
Rated 4/10
The musical equivalent of tea lights and mason jars and Christmas lights: generic upper middle class southern suburban Americana wedding aesthetics. Slow acoustic guitar songs, overwrought vocals, hetero-harmonies, insipid love is great lyrics. Not unpleasant, but dull. Pretty production - clean, bright, and easy, the instrumental parts like soaring lapsteel dressing and the piano/violin outro are nice.
Rated 6/10
This worked for me for a while, but there's no real variation in any of the songs and it leaves me feeling very meh by the end.
Rated 2/10
So fucking annoying. The "Billie Jean" cover was the final straw on this camel of fucking annoyingness.
Rated 4/10
Indie folk from the '10s. All I'd ever heard of theirs was a cover of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean that they did. This album is mostly consistent of horribly depressing folk. Only the title track actually has any energy to it at all. I mean, it's not bad music, it's just.... the kind of folk music you may find in the background of a soap opera. Soft, light, and depressing with male/female harmonized vocals. They remind me of Johnnyswim, but much more depressing.
Favourite songs: Barton Hollow, Billie Jean, 20 Years, Forget Me Not
Least favourite songs: C'est La Mort

I forgot about these guys. I enjoyed them back when this came out but haven't really kept up. It's a fun album. Nothing mind blowing but very solid.
Rated 4/10
Started as pretty decent sleepy music, but got more Generic Country as it went on
Rated 4/10
Feels extremely predictable and generic, but I'll admit this whole era of folk just tends to irk me unless it's well done. This is technically well done, but lacks anything below the surface.
Rated 6/10
Pleasant enough folksy chilled country-ish Americana, dulled only slightly by the unshakeable feeling that there are about 3,000 albums the same on the list already. The cover version at the end came out of the blue, but every other song sounds like everything else.
Rated 8/10
Listened to these guys a lot back in the day, think I discovered them through the Michael Jackson cover. Really beautiful album and enjoyed revisiting it this morning
