Rated 4/10

First song had promise with the horns. Well, that went away as quickly as it came. Christgau was less enamored, saying "...if those horns are somebody's idea of a joke I am not amused."

Kind of a mishmash, the band doesn't seem to land on anything. It's okay, has good energy, not really punk though? DNF moving on

Rated 6/10

Can definitely hear the first buds of punk spring in this. Gritty, spiky, angry but still with heart and meaning. Not spectacular for me, but if they're as influential as they say, then well worthy of inclusion on this list.

Punk

Rated 6/10

Another album that just has the same song TWENTY SEVEN times

Rated 8/10

I was wondering what route this album would be going after the first song's big band, proto-ska, influence, and even after the album is over I'm wondering what was going on here. You have post-punk, garage rock type stuff, some pretty noisy, aggressive works (especially for 1978, holy cow!) and more jangle-y guitars like something outta Violent Femmes, it leads to a very versatile album, especially for the punk scene. It can still be pretty repetitive because of the amount of songs here, but I'm just impressed by the work involved here, and it leads to a pretty cool sounding album, especially, again, for 1978. No, Your Product is an awesome punk track.

Fin plade! Sikke et punk oprør med de horn på første sang 🎺
Kunne ikke lade være med at føle at jeg havde hørt mange af sangene før, det hele virkede bekendt, men jeg tvivler...

Rated 6/10

Never heard of this band before, and I was put off somewhat by the 27 song long running order, but if you listen to the first 13 that made up the album, its a fun, raucous garage band punk rock sound. And the trumpets!

Rated 6/10

Another band I had never heard of and loved. Standard punk album. if you love punk you will love this.

There are some great songs on this. I really enjoyed know your product, memories are made of this and private affair.

Favourite song: Memories are made of this.
Least favourite: All good
Album artwork: Cool cover

Great energy.

Never heard of this band, but this is a pretty solid album. Obviously didn't have the cultural impact of the Sex Pistols, but overall I enjoyed this one more as an album experience. A few good standout tracks, especially Know Your Product, Run Down and Orstralia.

ROCK 'N FUCKING ROLL!
Move over Strokes, Libertines et all, it was already here in 1978.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this, also the more raw International Robot Sessions before they started playing with horn sections.

4,5*

All songs sound the same. Rock that I can forget easily.

I’m at a 3.5 and… fine, alright, I’ll bump it up.

Shockingly, for a 36 minute album, I think this kinda goes a bit long; 13 tracks is a little much, and some of them circle around the same soundscape a few times in a way that makes listening to the full album sort of a chore by the end. It comes out of the gates pretty hot though, but I only really dug one or two of the final 5 tracks. Sometimes less is more, you know?

Instrumentation is super fun, lots of energy, and the horn section that comes up a few times is really fun. Vocals are a bit jarring at times, but I don’t think they’re ever outright bad, just unbefitting a few times. There are some seriously good lyrics on Private Affair that don’t fully get their credit because he goes all spoken word on them instead of belting them out with the energy they deserve. This happens a few times on the album, and while I don’t think it ever ruins the vibe of the song, it just makes me wish for a little more.

Ultimately, though, I don’t think there’s a bad track on the album, and that’s the key difference between bumping it down to a 3 and bumping it up to a 4 – I had a lot of fun listening to this album, and I think with a little more time and a little more polish, a lot of my little nitpicks could’ve been cleaned up. This was a good album, and I’ll be nice to it because of that hot start to go with a 4. It’s like a 7/10, though.

A brilliant fusion of many of the early British and US punk bands, with a clear influence on a bunch of Australian bands since - the likes of You am I, The Living End, Jet, & The Vines owe The Saints a huge debt. I loved it, especially because of its clear sense of both time and place.
A brilliant record (which probably doesn't need the b-sides, rarities and live takes on the linked version)

Rated 6/10

„Memories Are Made Of This“, „This Perfect Days“ & „A Minor Of Aversion“ wissen zu gefallen.

Rated 4/10

It's just punk rock template. It's fine, I guess, and if you're into punk you'll probably like it, but it's just so boring. Nothing unique or interesting about it.

Rated 6/10

Classic sounding punk album. Pretty decent over all. 3/5

Rated 8/10

Rips. Can still remember the thrill of first hearing Know Your Product about 20 or so years ago. Not a perfect album but when it's good, it's pure energy

Rated 6/10

This is an album full of great punk rock instrumental performances undermined by mediocre vocals and melodies. I loved what the guitars and bass were doing throughout. But the vocals lacked energy or something. I mean, this came out in 1978, just a year before “London Calling” and “Singles Going Steady,” and two years after “Ramones.” And while the band arrangements could hold up against those albums, the vocals simply cannot.

A shame, because it almost was great.

Rated 6/10

Pretty good album. Not a big punk guy but I enjoyed this one. I'd say I wish I could make out what the singer was singing a little more easily, but that wouldn't be very punk would it?!?
