Fake at its core. Some good window dressing, though.

My assumption was that with the exception of Young, any CSNY-verse album that was was than CSN would be inderioe. So this one snuck up on me both in its gnarlier moments and more harmonious moments. I will have to return to explore it more.

I never thought a song called "Laughing" could be so devoid of human emotion

Great jam shit!

Rated 6/10

Eh, the harmonies on some of these songs are nice but you could hear that with the same people involved if youre listening to Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

I really dont need this in my life but I also am not going to say this is bad.

Just take it one day at a time, and know that I love you

The epitome of late 60s/early 70s bullshit. There are 104 albums here just released in the period from 1969-71 alone. Imagine if there were 104 albums here from 2014-16? That would be ridiculous! And I’m willing to bet that out of the 104 albums from 69-71, maybe only about 20-30 are actually albums you must hear before you die. The only people who actually listen to David Crosby are boomers. And these are the same type of boomers that call rap boring or metal annoying while listening to virtually the same song over and over again. This album in particular isn’t even that great for country standards, if you would consider it country. All while leaving out important country singers like Hank Williams Sr. and Garth Brooks. Oh, and I forgot to mention, a few of the songs on this album have Neil Young as a writing credit. And even on the songs that he didn’t have credits for, you can tell they were very Young inspired. Does everything that Neil Young has ever made and everyone that he has influenced need to be on this list? Unbelievable.

Classic Crosby, musically his distinctive jazz folk stylings, lyrically with his (typically) hipster philosopher paranoiac blend. It’s performed beautifully, very attractive, though more of a sideways step from his late Byrds and CSN contributions than a step forward.
Croz, despite his prickly personality, was better as a collaborator than a solo artist, brilliant harmony singer and capable of rich melodic innovation. Good but not great. 3.5

If I could only remember listening to this album

Rated 6/10

I liked it more than I thought I would but it's still just ok to me.

Rated 6/10

A bit all over the place but I enjoyed it enough.

Rated 8/10

Barney: “David Crosby?! You’re my hero!”
Crosby: “oh you like my music?”
Barney: “you’re a musician??”

Rated 8/10

The vibes of this album are immaculate.

This was actually a really nice, chill time. The music is really accomplished, with some lovely guitar, and a great energy to it overall. It's quite moody and interesting, with some expansive soundscapes, and really effective use of backing vocals.

3.5 rounded up.

I really wasn’t expecting to like this, let alone kind of love it. Wikipedia describes it as a cult album and that’s what it feels like. Kind of odd in a way that most people probably wouldn’t think much of it, but it can feel just perfect to the right person. It reminded me a lot of No Other by Gene Clark

Getting a lot of albums from the 70's and earlier in the past few days. Similar to a lot of folk and rock from these decades, it didn't really grab me. I liked some of the songs (the brisk half an hour runtime is a point in it's favour) but the album's weighed down by my personal indifference to this period of music. Maybe that'll change in the future as I go through the list! Even though the album is good in a purely musical sense, it wasn't for me I guess.

Rated 6/10

Enjoyable hippy music

Rated 4/10

Some of this is okay, but it’s mostly because of the features. Crosby’s voice doesn’t really hold up on its own. There was some promise at the beginning of the Cowboy song, but the stuff about the Indian girl was rather cringe.
