I mean it was alright. Not something I would really want to go back to.

I've never listened to this one before. Some of the songs are unplayable on Spotify, presumably due to the contributions of Joni Mitchell and/or Neil Young, so I'll have to find it elsewhere! I'm a big fan of Joni and Neil, but don't know much of the other CSNY members' work.

Had a listen on YouTube -wow I can't believe I haven't heard this before. So many great artists on one record, and the Grateful Dead too (having said that, this is much better than their solo album I was subjected to last week). The album flows really well together, and is very well produced for the most part. Lyrically, it maybe strays a bit to far into hippie-dippie territory, but given the political climate at the time, that's understandable. Overall a great find, I'll be listening to this again for sure.

De meeste artiesten bouwen op. Maar dit album begint top en wordt telkens saaier en slechter. Moest even wat anders opzetten, anders zou ik achter het stuur in slaap vallen. We middelen het maar uit. 3 Sterren.

David Crosby's first solo album, made after the success of Crosby, Stills & Nash's debut album, and their first break up. He had a few other artists featured on this album as well such as Neil Young, Graham Nash, members of Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, Santana, and Joni Mitchell.

There were some exploratory works on this album that felt unpolished, but were also some fantastic songs as well such as Cowboy Movie. That song is apparently loosely based on the temporary breakup of Crosby, Stills & Nash. In this song, the individual members of the band are given aliases; Stephen Stills is Eli, Graham Nash is the Duke, Neil Young is Young Billy, and David Crosby is Fat Albert. The other character in the story, Raven, is apparently Rita Coolridge, who in real life had affair with both Stills, and Nash, and caused the bad feelings between them, and led to the splitting of the band.
The harp section in Traction in the Rain is great!
The song Music is Love had symplistic lyrics, and is underwhelming.

Overall, not a bad album, but nothing really stood out with it either.

Favourite songs: Cowboy Movie, What Are Their Names, Traction in the Rain

Least favourite songs: Music is Love, Orleans, I'd Swear There Was Somebody Here

Otro que toca oír en Tidal. Bonito y tranquilo. Me gustó "Music is Love" y "Laughing". Que por lo que veo son sus canciones más conocidas así que si hay algo que escuchar de este autor está claro que en solitario es este disco.

Good lord this made me want to drink beer in the sun.

Old people's music, hippies trying to make money but pretend they're not. Songs all sound the same, and only ok. Not for me; just sounds like so many other albums from that time.

Rated 4/10

I've been making a point of giving albums more than one chance and there have been a bunch that really hit me on the second or third listen. On first listen, my reaction was this album was ok, but nothing special. Three listens later...no different. It's just not a very interesting album. I like CSNY but this album just didn't do much for me.

I generally like this album, there area few good guitar licks. though i cant say i will ever listen to it again

I have an old used copy of this on vinyl so I do like it well enough, but listening to it in the context of 1001 greatest albums is kinda baffling to me. I like Cowboy Movie the most by far. It's basically a grateful dead track with a different singer when you look at the lineup. Other than that I like the strangely intense vocal harmony work on the last two tracks but honestly I feel like this is a fairly weak and very loosely constructed album. Kinda just sounds like high quality jam recordings on most of it.
