A classic, my beef is with the sound balance where sax/trumpet would come through only one ear, which is very jarring. Still 5*

Not much into blues or jazz but this is an excellent album. I plan on adding it to my collection

Rated 10/10

If there’s one jazz album you should listen to, it’s Kind of Blue. This was one of the first jazz records I ever listened to in full and it will always be one of my favorites.

As many others have said, it’s an album that works in so many contexts. For a close listen, there’s so many little things to pick up on (one obvious one and my personal favorite is how the opening of Flamenco Sketches loosely resembles the opening of So What?, providing a sense of familiarity and completeness to the record.) The record also serves as excellent background noise, effortlessly setting the mood in almost any situation.

I’ve played this record more times than I can count and I’ll never tire of it, truly one of the greatest pieces of music ever composed.

Finally had a reason to crack open my vinyl of this.

Rated 6/10

Kind Of Blue isn't the best jazz album out there but it's still a decent one. This one seems to greatly reduce the amount of songs from Birth Of The Cool to this and in exchange, makes the songs longer. I personally like this style more since it allows the songs to do a better job at sinking in as well as being able to mask the lack of differentiation in this album better. While i don't think that the songs here are as memorable as the ones in In A Silent Way, i do still think these songs are pretty decent and definitely are better than the ones in Birth Of The Cool. This album is definitely a good one but i feel it would get topped 10 years later.
Best Song: So What
Worst Song: Blue In Green

Firstly, I did like this album. There were some sections with atonal or just irregular/seemingly not fitting with the note before parts I didn't much care for, but as a whole, this was enjoyable.

Reading the Wikipedia article gives me some insight to maybe why I generally don't care for post-hard bop Miles Davis. I think a lot of this comes from the modal nature of the music instead of the "normal" chord progressions that I'm used to. I'm not a musician, nor do I really know anything about music theory, so I'm not really sure if what I think counts for anything here (and, I suppose, in any of these reviews I leave here for albums...)

This was enjoyable and I'm glad I listened. I still don't care for Davis' later work, but I suppose that's my fault for not knowing more about it?

I took a second pass at this later in the day, and the off pitch / squawky noises are just not for me. For a while, I'll be enjoying the moments, and then the screechiness comes back and pulls me right out of it.

I just can't rate this very high on my personal enjoyability scale. :(

Banger. Einfach genial, nicht zu stressig. Gut als Backgroundmusic, aber auch wenn man aktiv zuhört, macht einfach Laune.

Rated 8/10

Pretty nice jazz to have on in the background.

Rated 10/10

That’s a very very easy 5.

Much like with “Birth of the Cool”, I’m not gonna be verbose about it – it’s just fabulous, fabulous jazz. What’s here is incredibly rich in its soundscape, and extremely blissful once it gets into rhythm. There’s not a missed note here, and it’s timeless. Fantastic compositions, great melodies, and a perfect mix to give each instrumental room to breathe.

When we got Birth of the Cool, I said I’d be terrified once we got this album, because that one set the bar remarkably high – this is at that same bar. I can’t say for sure if it’s higher, but it’s certainly equal, even if the track count is much less. I enjoyed this just as much, I’ll come back to it as often, and it’s so very deserving of a 5.

Oh jazz. I just don’t get you. But it’s not fair to give it too low a rating just because I’m not feeling it.

Rated 10/10

Pure bliss from the first bass note through every modal shift and unhurried deeply expressive solo.

Rated 8/10

Miles Davis' jazz may be brilliant, but sometimes I don't understand it and then it's too exhausting for me. It was the same with this album. I couldn't cope with the first track. I thought the rest of it was really cool. I think I'll listen to it again.

Smooth jazz horns and piano. A little before my time but thoroughly enjoyable.

Rated 6/10

This seems VERY popular. Can't say it did it for me. I didn't *hate* it, but nor was it the greatest thing since I filled my ears with sliced bread.

Rated 10/10

One of the best jazz albums of all time. 5/5

This is my kind of jazz

Rated 4/10

Oh my fuck jazz is boring. It all sounds like elevator hold music. And Miles Davis' music in particular drives me nuts. I know the dude revolutionized jazz, but a trumpet has to be the most annoying sounding instrument ever. Even moreso than bagpipes. This whole album just kind of ran together for me, and I can't really say there was a stand out track on it. It was all just a monotonous jumble of piano, rat a tat drums, and brass instruments. I may have dozed off a few times throughout, but how would you know...

Overall, much better than Bitches Brew, but still so far out of my wheelhouse. May be ok as background music in a fancy restaurant, but I would never just sit and listen to a jazz record..... Ever.....

Favourite songs: All Blues

Least favourite songs: I don't really know.... It all sounded the same, and I didn't really care for any of it.

2/5...i mean, the artists have talent, that's for sure, but it's just so dry...

Rated 8/10

God jazz! Føles ikke så fis-fornemt, som man måske nogen gange for indtryk af... Måske af uvidenhed indenfor genren...

Rated 10/10

Miles again… automatic 5 stars.

Rated 8/10

This is going to be a super unfair 4. There's absolutely nothing wrong or suboptimal about any part of this album or performance, but it's just so smooth that it ends up melting into somewhat boring for me.
