Band On The Run was a pretty enjoyable album. Unlike Paul McCartney's solo album which i did earlier on this project, this one definitely has more of a Beatles vibe to it when it comes to both the music and the vocal style. I did quite enjoy this one, It definitely had quite a decent amount of fun moments throughout it's runtime. Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five was definitely a huge highlight for this album. I guess if i did have an issue with it, it would be that all the songs sound a bit to similar and are a little too forgettable but that could be pretty rare. I definitely had my fun with this album and it's definitely up there as one of McCartney's better works.
Best Song: Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five
Worst Song: Band On The Run

Good songwriting and catchy. Always enjoyed the wings, but the writing was not the Beatles - musically or lyrically.

Rated 4/10

This album goes to show that even the (arguably) best Beatle really needed to have the other Beatles around him to make music at the same level. That's not to say this is bad, it's not, but it is certainly not the Beatles. And I guess that was the point to a certain degree. There are Beatle-esque moments on this album, but overall it kind of fell flat for me. I'm not saying that I want everything Paul McCartney does to sound like the Beatles, but what he came out with here is just not even close to the same level. 2.5/5 but I'm going to round down. I feel like George Harrison's solo attempts were much stronger, especially All Things Must Pass. This is absolutely not that.

One of the sounds of my childhood, absolute must listen for everyone.

Hit after hit after hit. Paul McCartney didn't need the Beatles to write good songs and this clearly shows it. A lot of McCartney's best songs are on here. 1985, Band on the Run, Mrs. Vandebilt and Let Me Roll It are all classic 70's rock hits. The only is only let down by the Mamunia, No Words and Picasso's Last Words IMO. Very close to a perfect album if not for those relatively lackluster tracks.

Rated 10/10

Mamunia and Let Me Roll It aren't great, but the rest of the album is pretty close to perfect, with unusual song arrangements and Paul's usual stellar vocal melodies.

4.5/5.0: Excellent

I enjoyed every song on this album. Jet might be my favorite Paul McCartney song. I would definitely listen to this again.

Rated 10/10

Brilliant album, one of the best post-Beatles albums out there.

The first solo Beatle album I listened to way back in my high school Beatles phase. I specifcally remember hearing Band on the Run on the radio and saying "Gee that sounds just like Paul McCartney" and my mom going "...That's because it is". Went out to buy a copy on vinyl and the rest is history. Was blown away then, and still am to this day. Perfect intro/outro combo.

Picasso's Last Words is my sleeper pick for best on the album. I'm a sucker for a good medley (as is McCartney). Probably his best work post-Beatles

This guy knows how to write some catchy music.

Rated 6/10

This was ok. There were some interesting arrangements and some good moments. 1985 is a great song.

Rated 6/10

Bit boring at times. First and last song were strong though

Rated 6/10

It was fine for me. Not something I'll come back to again. All due respect to Sir McCartney and company but Wings was never my style.

Finaly, this project brought me closer to the Beatles. In this context, I also learned to appreciate goerge Harrison's music. At some point in the late 70s, Mull of Kentyre also spilled over the canal into my channel. I liked the song back then. And so I was curious about this album, which I hadn't heard before. It didn't excite me, rather bored me. Even for the sake of completeness, I wouldn't have listened to it. 3/5

The Good: McCartney was drinking Red Bull before it even existed, and that is how he got his wings…
The Bad: Too much Red Bull is not good for you…
The Ugly: I don’t see the band running in the picture, which means we’ve been lied to!!!

You’ve got to hand it to Sir Paul, he sure knew how to write catchy tunes, ensuring more attention, adoration, or hatred, for his music.

Me, listening to this album, I was brought back to a part of my childhood, where things were all simple and wonderful, as the world was starting to present itself to me, via adventures, bumps and scraps, and glasses of lemonade.

Though for my taste the record only deserves 3*, I’ve got to add the additional one to show respect to the genius that Sir Paul is… that, and I’ve had to listen to 5 crap records in a row, so that might have clouded my judgement….

Why do people need to carp on about which Beatle is better than the other like they require placing like four teams in a World Cup group stage?

This is OK. First two songs are really good.

Rated 10/10

The story of this album sounds wild. Never heard it as a whole, so I'm excited. I think this cements Paul's capabilities outside the Beatles. Easy 5*
Highlights: band on the run (a banger, a masterpiece of many songs in one), jet, mrs vanderbilt, let me roll it
