Rated 6/10

Decent, but generic 70s dad rock.

In another of my lives, this would’ve been five stars.

Rated 8/10

I'm familiar with Bad Company as a '70s hard rock supergroup. The title track of this self-titled debut album is still a staple on classic rock radio stations.

The rest of this album is on par with that title track. It is a collection of blues-influenced rocking tunes, carried largely by Paul Rodgers' bold tenor vocals. Sure, the lyrics aren't as deep, as is typical for this territory, but it has a charm, especially with the mellow closer "Seagull" that mixes it up at the end with the acoustic guitar. It's certainly worth a listen.

Solid first album

Rated 8/10

Lots of genuinely great rock tunes. There's a lame song here or there, but the hard stuff rocks.

Rated 6/10

Lige præcis sådan jeg regner med at min 70'er rock skal lyde!

Mon sangen Bad Company med gruppen Bad Company fra pladen Bad Company var grunden til at de lavede en helt plade?

I guess I understand why this album made the list. It has multiple songs that remain in the classic rock zeitgeist. For me personally I’ve never cared much for the hits off this album and the non-hits aren’t great either. The title track is the only one I can tolerate, the rest bore me. This is one that maybe “rocked” in 1974, but feels so tame and uninteresting now.

Rated 6/10

I think the first half of the album is a 3, and the back half of the album is a 4, so once again, I’m at a 3.5 that I wish I could keep there.

I think I’m gonna bump it down to a 3. Ultimately, it’s because I think too many songs suffer from extended periods where everything just sort of blends together for too long.

There’s not a single bad song on here, but so many of them just fade into the background after a bit while listening. That wouldn’t be so bad if the entire album had great instrumental pieces, but I find the first half of the album to be a little bland and a bit generic in its instrumentation, so it really sticks out when those songs blend into the background. The second half of the album is great, and doesn’t suffer from it as badly because they have great instrumentation and just better all-around vibes. However, they do suffer from it. It’s a 3.5, but I’ll round it down for that. Another solid 7/10 album.

This album feels very generic to me in all facets. The name of the band feels like the first thing a bunch of bikers would think of when naming a band. The music feels like a weird Lynyrd Skynyrd copy with some more soul stuff thrown in. Really, the thing as a whole just feels surface level. It isn't anything offensive, but it drags, with repetitive lyrics (it is blues rock after all) and a general formula of building the song up way too quick. The final two-to-three minutes of nearly every track tend to feel useless, or at the very least, annoying. It tries to do this deep-down “I love you so” soul thing a lot, but it feels disingenuous. The lead singer, Paul Rodgers, just doesn't have it in him to swing with the best of them, but I suppose I can respect the trying nature? I don't know, when I listen to this I only think of better 70s rock to listen to, and very little else. Guitar playing is the best part, but it's still forgettable. Not technically a “bad” album, but let's just say the band and album name is apt.

Rated 2/10

This is some of the blandest, uninteresting, and generic dad rock I've gotten so far. I rank them even lower than Deep Purple, because at least they had some genuinely influential and innovative songs. This is just boring shite - hard rock for people who find Led Zeppelin too "artistic".

Rated 10/10

One of the best voices in rock, and some of his best songs on this BC by BC from the album BC is (maybe) the best example of the triple shared name.
Flawless

Rated 2/10

A thorough response to anyone who ever accused them of denying being bad company, this album is the factory settings of state fair rock.

Rated 10/10

Favourite songs: Can't Get Enough, Rock Steady, Bad Company, Movin' On, Ready for Love

Least favourite songs: The Way I Choose

Bad Company is what ChatGPT would sound like if you asked it to compose “Dad Rock.”

Devoid of imagination, plodding, lame. Too soft to go hard, too hard to be soft. The auditory equivalent of a “half chub.”

Bad Company is the Imagine Dragons of 70’s Rock.

Granted, if they were the entertainment in a bar that only serves Bud Lite, I’d think they sound pretty good, given that this is clearly their hobby.

Everything they do well, a hundred artists do better. This album has no business being a “must hear.”

Rated 2/10

Truly awful.

Rated 4/10

Halfway between Led Zeppelin and boring drivetime rock ballads of the late-70s/early-80s.

Rated 4/10

Certainly some highlights, but even those don't really move me the way you would expect from an alltime classic. It does still surprise me this was like the first big signing to the Beatles label. 2.5/5

Rated 4/10

I just didn't find this interesting or engaging at all. They can sing and certainly are good with their instruments, but the songs are all 13 in a dozen, rock by numbers.
It feels like this band isn't even subtop in the 70's rock ranks, even though it's apparently a 'supergroup'

Rated 4/10

Pretty bog standard blues rock 2*

Rated 8/10

bad bad company..
