Do you like the blues, kid? This is the gosh darn blues!

When did the Blues become a dirge? Cause this ain’t that! Was gonna tell a story about young me and how I accidentally discovered this and how I think it was an important punk album but I’ll save it for another time.
A lot of these albums are historically important because of their influence or popularity but don’t age well. This is not one of those. Which isn’t to say it wasn’t popular and influential. It’s just a great record. Fun to listen to, soulful, all the musicians are in top form. A gem top to bottom and glad to see it on the list.

Yup, that's blues alright.

I feel a bit bad giving a legend like Muddy Waters three stars, and individually, the songs are great. It just all gets a bit samey for the duration of an entire album.

I wish I could have seen him live.

Jazzy, great vocal cadence.

It was a perfect album for a cookout 🙏

I love Muddy Waters, but I don't necessarily love live recordings - particularly this one that is stereo panned super hard and has a really distracting rumble on the low end.

Kerrankin keikkalevy, josta tulee semmonen fiilis, että olispa ollu siistiä olla tuolla. Kova meno! 4/5

HL: "Tiger in Your Tank", "I Got My Brand On You", "I Feel So Good", "Hoochie Coochie Man"
Picks up speed like a rollercoaster, then ends on a downbeat "Newport Blues". No sifting through layers with this album, just some good blues vibes. Hard for me to listen to Muddy Waters without imagining Plant/Page or Jagger/Richards prowling nearby with hungry looks in their eyes.

While I'm not a fan of blues as a genre, and this did not change my mind in anyway, it was more enjoyable than the average blues album for me. I really liked how snappy it was, never really lasting longer than necessary, and the crowd wasn't annoying like some other live albums. I just think this was an alright album that is dragged down by my dislike of the genre, pretty much putting it right in the middle.

If you like Blues (and I do) this album is amazing. Not much more needs to be said.

Decent, but I'm getting a bit bored of blues/folk live albums.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one!

No suena mal. Y hay clasicazos, pero no es mi estilo y los directos menos aún. La casualidad hace que esta misma mañana estuvieran hablando en la radio de la canción "I've got my mojo working".
