This one is really up my alley, a solid 4. Reminded me of a lot of other artists i like

Rated 8/10

90s era rock is such a nostalgic sound for me. I've listened to Afghan Whigs casually but I don't think I've ever sat down and played an album straight through. I really dug it. The soulful elements really add a unique dimension.

Rated 10/10

Atmospheric and soulful.

Rated 4/10

Good Lord what's singing this? A drunken vampire?

Rated 4/10

I'd heard of this band before, but never listened to them until now. Musically I really like this, and the lyrics do very well at representing the point of view of a very unsavoury character. But the vocal delivery is pretty grating. I appreciate what they were trying to do, and get the significance of the album. But don't think I'll be listening to this one again.

Første observation: Top 10 irriterende stemmer..
Musikken er god!
Teksterne er fandme dumme.

Jeg brækkede mig næsten over hans stemme i "balladen" - I Keep Coming Back.. 😫

Rated 8/10

I had never heard of the Afgan Whigs before. I liked the music. I will definitely listen to the album again, even if it won't be one of my favorites.
4/5

This album contains cool 90s rock music themed around a breakup. I found the songs to be rather enjoyable.

Hey everybody! 😎😎😎It's the feel-bad album of the summer!🌞🌞🌞🤩🤩🤩
It's an artistic statement like Type-O Negative doing Summer Breeze. It surprises me whenever ideas like this get the careful, even superb execution that they do. Maybe they just sat down and said: "Let's write an album that will be critically acclaimed™," and that was the only parameter.

It's really pretty bad. The concept is derivative if not ill-conceived. The playing is fine, but I feel like they're pushing my face into something I simply don't want (and never asked ) to look at. The singing, while true to whatever disturbed and unlikable character this is supposed to be, is obnoxious with no real redeeming quality.

I'm not sure where this type of music comes from, just exploring the darkest places. It's just that there's no hope, it never let's up. It's not even like metal, where you get actual visceral anger. It's just the soundtrack of people being assholes to themselves and each other. Pretty lame. The effort that went into making this surprises me, because what do you think about yourself or your audience when you do something like this? I guess it's just going hard on your complaints, really really hard. Narcissistic. It's (again, this turns up a lot in the Critically Acclaimed® albums) like bad high-school poetry.

Rated 8/10

Good rock album.

Rated 4/10

boring post-grunge midtempo 90s alt rock that never made it to the radio. Imagine a really muddy recording of stone temple pilots' filler tracks with the hooks taken out. A real dirge. Some good guitar parts here and there, and when the vocals veer into screamo territory it's more compelling, same when it slows down and spaces out into a more shoegaze sound.

Favorites: be sweet, when we two parted

Ooof. Like a lot of the reviews on here, this band has always been on my periphery, but I’ve never checked them out. It wasn’t what I was expecting. I was expecting a band that I’ve always thought I’d like if I checked them out. I got a whiney guy that didn’t sound fun.

Rated 6/10

I'd heard of Afghan Whigs, (and keep reading it as "Afghan Wings", I dunno, dyslexia), but never listened to anything by them.

The album is decent enough, I enjoyed the guitars and bass riffs, but still all quite forgettable.

Rated 8/10

Yeah, loved it - such a great sound and Dulli is a fantastic vocalist. listened to a few of their other albums back in the day (had 1965 on tape!) but never this one

Rated 6/10

Debonair is a high point. Otherwise this is the epitome of an early 90s, grunge-adjacent, rock album. And I say that, as a fan of early 90s rock music, in the least nostalgic/complementary way possible. It's just kind of boring. The singer isn't great. It kind of reminds me of The Lemonheads or Paul Westerberg. Not really heavy enough to be grunge, but with some of the same affectations. A grunge-ish paint-by-numbers album, if you will.

Not terrible, I guess. Would give a 2.5 if I could.

Rated 4/10

This album is boring, and the main singer sucks at his job. His voice isn't bad in an interesting way, it's just straight up bad, and it doesn't help that his voice is so bad it distracts from pretty decent guitar playing, with a few good riffs, and when the album featured an actually good singer for one song, I could see an alternate reality where I liked this a lot more. The last song having no words was a godsend that saved my my mental state and this album from getting the lowest of low scores. Still not good.

Rated 6/10

Oma suhtautuminen bändiin on ollut aina että meneehän tuo, mutta harvoin tulee kuunneltua erikseen. Ihan jees kyllä, 3/5

Rated 4/10

Dude I'm from Cincinnati and even I don't like The Afghan Wigs.

Rated 4/10

Meh this album disappointed me, just felt like another generic 90’s alt rock record with cringe lyrics, not sure how it’s made this list.
